What if the parents are putting them in for regular hunts and not youth? Should they be limited then? Oakley Report post Posted February 28, 2022 I’ve raised 5 kids all now older and successful hunters. I see several hundred successful hunters a year with approximately 20-25 percent youth. The kids that have killed small animals are just as excited as those who have harvested big animals. Seen kids that have killed spikes so excited they had a hard time telling the story again and other that have killed 175 in deer that wouldn’t get out of the truck when dropping it off. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

And that's awesome to hear. Doesn't change that fact that many kids work much harder then others, including many adults, and deserve the benefits from the work they put in. Kids that have put in the time hiking many miles a day, scouting/glassing/shooting/reloading deserve the same opportunities as anyone else. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Explorer Report post Posted March 1, 2022 I would think that since spikes usually are easier to find due to proximity of does, a spike only hunt would do alot of damage to future growth. ThomC Report post Posted March 1, 2022 Just look at California. That is what happens when population increases to past the carrying point of a state or country and then socialism takes over. Because of inflation and socialism G&F needs more and more money. Wild animals cannot keep up with all of these increases. So, tag increases, less chance to go hunting for trophies are the result.
