JLG Report post Posted October 9, 2008 COUESAZ, Honestly, hunting the Elk in these units is a tough transition for me. As a living breathing person that has drank from the Swaro Koolaid, it is tough for me not to climb to the highest peak in the land and glass all day, (That is how we saw the 30" 4x4). When I had this tag two years ago I would do that glassing the open spaces wonder why I was seeing no elk in the most awesome looking country and than go walk the open spaces afterward not to see one new fresh sign. Seeing a two or three year old pile, was an accomplishment. Only when I got into the thick stuff with the 100% canopy cover did I start seeing sign. On the glassin' Deer, based on the facted that we saw them before they saw us and we didn't see an elk, I am thinkin the Elk maybe own Swaro glass and have younger eyes, the deer on the otherhand may have been going with the Tascos. On the driving deer, saw these at night, going from were we hunting on Friday to were we were camping Friday night. They were out stretching their legs and must have had their truck parked back in the woods. If you were gauging what they drove based on their look and age. I would say about a 1976 Datsun 4 banger, but could be wrong, Take Care, JLG.
