Big Tub Report post Posted January 12, 2022 The draw for Javelina for HAM is more difficult than rifle or Bow in the unit I am going.

So, road hunting cow elk is within the spirt of the hunt, but shooting a totally legal firearm at a dang javelina isn't within the "spirit of the hunt"? Crazymonkey Report post Posted January 12, 2022 This was heavily debated in another post with lots of opinions for and against there use .I have no problem with using what's legal .I've taken them with a stick and string ,pistol ,multiple different rifles I don't recommend a 300 wm at ten feet unless you don't mind your gun field dressing your pig as it makes a mess of things .its eathier a contender pistol or a paramount pro in 45 for me . You can road hunt elk with that rifle/pistol. There are plenty of elk ham hunts. It's legal, but if you can put it to your shoulder it's a rifle. IMO. And not what was intended when they created ham hunts. Personally, Idc enough to argue the topic

ctafoya Report post Posted January 12, 2022 For the record I've only used my bow and usp45 on a ham hunt. I'd have to strip those "pistols" down to be legal to hunt with. Too much work.
JSR Report post Posted January 12, 2022 Im more concerned about people that kill javelina, put the meat in the freezer, then throw it out after its thoroughly freezer burnt, never intending to eat it. How it died, doesn't really matter to the pig, nor to me.
