jdown Report post Posted January 6, 2022 I always do a bacon wrapped with a green chili and jalepeno slice on the smoker. Great apps.
ThomC Report post Posted January 6, 2022 Quail, you mean those things running 100yds ahead. I was going to take my scope sighted .22 quail hunting but the G&F says no. You can shoot rabbits with a rifle but not quail. Go figure.

I actually just cook them on the Traeger at 350 till the bacons semi crisp, the quail is nice and moist.
jdown Report post Posted January 6, 2022 You can also do a little spread of cream cheese on the bacon before wrapping or cream cheese mixed with that ranch stuff and light spread on the bacon. We usually do some with cream cheese, some with jalapeno but all have green chili and bacon. If cooking in electric smoker, I start with lower temps and gradually increase for about 2 hours and then end at 220 with vent open to crisp the bacon for about 10min.. On the trager I have yet to find a temp that doesn't do well but as NOTAGS said 3-350!
