the Burris SpeedBead system is pretty good.  Gets the red dot low to the bore.  You are limited to what red dot you use but the Burris Fastfire is a good red dot.

I have had one on my Super Black Eagle for years.

That's probably what I'll end up going with

I have a Aimpoint Micro S-1 I use sometimes.  It mounts to the rib.  Not as low profile as the SpeedBead but easier to move around.  More $$$ too.

Hi viz makes a fiber optic magnetic sight I guess they call it .sticks on the rib in front of the bead and works great .I put one on my 870 and it helps me focus on the bead and target.

What I did also on a 870 super-mag.

Looking for somewhere near North Phoenix. Want to put a red dot on my turkey/coyote gun

You might give Nelson Ford "The Gunsmith" a call.  I know he is fond of 870's & 1100's because both have steel receivers.  He don't like aluminum or plastic.

I put the Tru-glo sights on both my shotguns for turkey and never missed a kill. They just snap on the rib and are bright and easy to see in low light.
