Hoss50 Report post Posted December 26, 2021 I was hoping someone can help me figure out what this might be worth. I have no idea if it is a reproduction or what. My dad had it for years, and bought it from a buddy in a bulk gun item purchase. It is a western holter and belt setup for a big man. I am a 42" waist and it is to big for me. 1 holter and the belt are stamped Spangenberg Gunsmith Tombstone, A.T. the other holter isn't marked. It has never been used much. I want to look to sell it, but I can't find much info to help determine a value.

Edge Report post Posted December 27, 2021 Spangenberg Gunsmith, Tombstone, Arizona Territory: A Very Rare Leather Rifle Scabbard. George F. Spangenberg was a legendary Tombstone gunsmith whose shop on 4th Street also sold ammunition and leather accessories. Sometime after the OK Corral gunfight he closed up shop and move to Tucson, where he began working for a mining company. However, it seems he had made some enemies. One night Spangenberg had an altercation in a local bar, and several days later four men came looking for him and confronted him in a tool shed where he was working. The details are a bit sketchy, but Spangenberg killed three of the men inside the toolshed, the fourth just outside, and grabbed the next stage out of town. Today a recreation of his gun shop operates as a tourist attraction on 4th, just across the street from its original location. Leather gun accessories sold by Spangenberg are extremely rare. Authorities with whom we consulted remember seeing a couple of holsters, but never a rifle scabbard. The example offered here is in very good condition, with only typical moderate surface wear from use, and no damage. All four leather attachment loops are present, and there is an attractive embossed border around the open end and underside. The logo "Spangenberg/Gunsmith/Tombstone A.T." is deeply stamped on both sides, with "35 R" stamped below each logo. Length 36.5".
