Daniel in Ak Report post Posted December 28, 2004 Well I spent the last few hours looking for some pics of us out using the quads during our hunting and fishing trips. And here are just a few for you boys back home.........oh! and gals, sorry Amanda,I cant forget you. This was out Grouse hunting last year.We took a trail 25 miles in before we ran half a tank through. But the grouse where thick. After getting some tundra chickens in the freezer we decided lets go get some caribou.Well we went to an area we never scouted, and to make this short we jumped a bull over 50 Buffalo, then abother bull some Moose and four more caribou. We spent the night, got up at 6am and had three meat bulls down by 6:15am,made it into town for lunch. And as my wife quoted a part from Ace Ventura.....Here is the 'Lovely truck of death'... As my pard and I gutted and boned out our animals the wife was haulin' the meat back to the truck.Good thing we had the quad and a third person Worse part but the funniest was that we had tour busses giving us thumbs up and taking pictures. We stopped in town and it was like show and tell to out of staters.Hahahahaa! And btw! thats my wifes very first big game animal. After all that fun we went back to chasing tundra chickens again.Oh! how my wife loves hunting birds now.Yeah yeah no quad in this pic,but it's behind me lol! Daniel in Ak Report post Posted December 28, 2004 This is the country and what we had to deal with.We had fires burning in the area, thats the smoke in the back ground. And morning fog rolling in.Thats my brother trying to catch up to me before we get lost in the fog. He's a 1/4 behind, and my best friend is a half mile behind him. But when it cleared up find yourself a hill and look for the caribou.. Even with three quads running I ran into a grizz down the hill,I went after her as she went after som caribou, well I turned into the dinner and shot her at 80 yards or so charging me.This is my bud explaing and helping out on splitting lips and working the pads. Just me trying my hand at fleshing a pad,on one of the trailers the quads came in on.We had three trucks and four quads on this hunt. Here's a group shot. After you left the fog you'd come to a canyon you had to go down one mile into the river bottom and travel the river for three or four milesbefore coming to the trail and up to the top again.ANyhow here we are trying to figure out which branch we came down. From left to right is Ken (from Sierra Vista)a fella who is Alvin's friend that I just met and my best friend is next to him(Alvins brother) Ken borrowed a truck, quad and rifle, picked my wife and kid up in town and drove four hours out to my camp.Next to Daryl is yours truly then Matt. The fella in the background is some fella I bumped into up on the trail and invited him with us as I knew where to go. Poor Ken ended up rolling the quad down a hill and over his face. Here he is in the bottom washing out his nose.Busted his nose and tore a nostril. This spot was only 30 miles in on quad, and The closest town with medical assistance is another 80 miles away.Thats why you have to be safe, never go alone, and alway tell someone where your going.Leave a map behind as to your location. Well thats about the use of quads till the snow fly's....Here's my boy Justin and I still playing on the quad. But how do we use them in winter you ask? Lets just say............Hold on brotha............yee! haw! Well I hope ya'll that stuck with me this far has a love for the outdoors as much as I and truly enjoy'd this long winded post about quads...Daniel,family and friends.
