I think it has to do with the pressures involved between 30-06 and 45-70? I don't think I've ever seen a Contender barrel in 30-06 but maybe I'm wrong? Very nice piece! ta1189 Report post Posted December 10, 2021 My fault on this one. I posted it for my dad, I asked him about it this morning and you are correct the .30-06 is an Encore barrel. He sold an Encore a few weeks ago and the buyer didn't need the .30-06. $650 for the contender with the .30-30, scope, and holster. $350 for the Encore barrel.
