Tines Report post Posted September 25, 2008 I'm sure many of you have seen these. The most common name for them is Child of the Earth. Some people know them as a Jeruselum cricket. I found one and thought it would be a great opportunity to use the Macro setting. You don't get to see too many of them during the day so I took advantage of it... Anyway, hope you enjoy..... Common Myths As is true for other large, "ugly" arthropods (e.g. solfugids), there are a number of folk tales regarding Jerusalem crickets which are simply untrue; first and foremost, they are not venomous. However, they can emit a foul smell and are capable of inflicting a painful bite - but neither is lethal, as some of the tales would suggest.
