Basser15 Report post Posted September 28, 2008 o expand a little on what Jay had posted, I can't thank Ron enough for coming up with us for the entirety of our hunt and helping out with everything that we were doing. Had a great time with him, and I'm pretty sure Jay and I ridiculed him more in a two week period than he might have ever experienced before....but that's how we show we like you Also want to thank Houston, my buddy Brett, and Nate Daniel for all coming up at some point and offering up their assistance in one way or another. This hunt was an extreme blast from the time that we found out the draw results. Almost every weekend was spent up in the woods hiking around, taking pictures, setting trail cams, and learning new areas. In the end the hunt ended up being a little bitter sweet in the fact that i came home with the tag still sitting in my pocket and not on a set of antlers. I had my opportunities and elected to pass on a couple rag-horn bulls during the hunt in hopes to harvest a mature bull, which was my goal from the beginning. Had several close encounters and chased some real nice bulls that we had found, but just couldn't quite close the deal in the amount of time that I could be out there, and the last three days of the season sitting in class instead of being in the field was TOUGH. But in no way am I complaining! Had a great time with some awesome friends and was able to learn more about these animals and their habitat than I knew before the hunt started. Also know that I have MUCH more to learn about them and how to hunt them. Can't wait till next year! One more great reason for having Mr. Ron Green around was that he became our dedicated camera man. Everytime you'd turn around to tell him something it seemed that he had the camera pointed at you....and once we got home we really appreciated it even more since he captured a lot of things that we normally wouldn't be able to when we got home. So thank you Ron! So here's a few clips if you want to check em out.... On the night that we were working in on a bull we called "Maxoderm...Oh YEEAAAH", Jay and I turned around to see Ron looking the opposite way...."WTF?" Turns out he was watching this guy behind us: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Bass...ent=BigBuck.flv Here's the view from inside a herd of elk: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Bass...ent=ElkHerd.flv In case you ever wondered how much Ron packed for the weekend....haha: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Bass...t=RonsStuff.flv This little guy will probably make cmc's palms all sweaty: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Bass...ent=LilBear.flv A bull that we had scouted prior to the season: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Bass...t=ReeseBull.flv Ok, and here are the bigger files. If you only watch one, you need to watch this one (Sorry Ron ) Here's one from the Ron Witch files: And then finally the recap:
