Snapshot Report post Posted September 19, 2008 Come on Scotty, how you really feel? Your a better man than me, sometimes I just can't help reading those questionable threads!
bowsniper Report post Posted September 19, 2008 The attitude of this forum has certainly changed since I joined it. Back then, flaming did not exist, and most everyone went out of their way to be polite. Now, with so many members, there are a lot more different opinions and some people who cruise the forums to flame. In that respect, the forum maybe is a victim of it's own success. I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND EVERYONE THAT THERE ARE KIDS WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM! Hunter Girl, Little Miss Huntn Coues, Kidbowhunter, just to name a few. For their sake, please leave the bad language out. Think about setting a good example for them when you post. Think about if you would want YOUR kids to read your post. SunDevil Report post Posted September 19, 2008 so there are really two different scenarios and for both of these, people that get offended easily need to either 1) get thicker skin, 2) ignore people they find offensive, 3) respect other people's opinions or 4) and possibly unfortunately, find somewhere else to spend their time. scenario 1) say I am a snake lover (which I am not but lets say I do). if there is a thread about how people hate snakes and want to kill them all then I need to either get thicker skin, respect their opinions, ignore the thread or go elsewhere. scenario 2) I am still a snake lover and I post a bunch of pictures of snakes and start talking about how much I love them. knowing some of the members on here, I might get called a few things (all in good nature) about being a snake lover and people will probably express their opinion about how they would like all snakes to be dead. once again, I need to understand they are not attacking me personally but rather have a difference of opinion on this topic and I need to either get thicker skin, ignore them and respect their opinions or go elsewhere. I know there have been people who have left this site because of each of these types of scenarios. yes it is unfortunate but people are all different and really, to each their own, that is the beauty of the country we live in. azpackhorse Report post Posted September 19, 2008 Basically you should be respectful to others and treat them as you would want to be treated and as long as you fall within the guidelines that Amanda has set for this forum it's all good. It's really no different then your everyday non-cyber life but unfortunately being able to respond or post remotely tends to bring out the butthead in people. I'm not even going to get into the "ethics" of helping people as far as areas to hunt but as far as I know they fall within the guidelines that Amanda has set.................... firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted September 19, 2008 In my opnion, most of the "trouble making" (and yes, I have done more than my share) is done in the off season when people get restless! It can get boring logging on during the off season when there is nothing going on, so some are easily tempted to stir the pot (Guilty). My $.
parothead Report post Posted September 20, 2008 I'm in agreeance with MOST that has been said on here... EXCEPT the fact that some folks that are here need to grow some thicker skin and tone down the whole "touchy feely" and hurt feelings ..... If there is a topic you dont like, DONT READ IT!!! How boring would this place be if EVERYONE on here felt exactly the same way on everything that was said?? That'd be like watching paint dry..Having opinions and being able to freely state them are what make us all AMERICANS and what makes this site fun and what keeps it fresh and exciting!! There are limits and rules, but as long as you stay within the boundries of Amanda's site, there is nothing wrong with having your own opinion and being able to state them. Along those same lines though, I too get sick and tired of seeing a new topic and just knowing it is going to be like reading a bunch of pre-teen sally's crying over this and that... Most on here are adults, let's at least try and act like one! But on that same token, I know things can get sideways sometimes and I've been guilty of that myself.I've said a thing or two on here that was posted to sting someone before, but I realized that calling someone out on the computer is pretty childish and have always apologized afterwards when I've had a few minutes to think about what it was that I said in return. There are TONS of topics on this site that get passed over by me and never read. For example , I've learned to just forgo reading all posts on here that have to do with illegal immigration, Border Patrol, all the 36 units, etc.. all they usually end up doing is getting me heated and that's where the head butting and personality clashing occurs!! I just don't read them now and whaddya know, NO ARGUMENTS!! I also never open any topics posted by folks who I've had previous problems with in the past.. Easy solution. I get enough of that crap in my daily life, so I've learned to just keep it out of my off time when I'm on "me" time. Some of you guys think that this site has problems?? Have you been to any others?? This place is like going to church compared to most other hunting sites! Well said! PH

longshooter Report post Posted September 20, 2008 Some people on here just need to get there man cards pulled. This is probaly on of the friendlist boards I have ever been on. Look at Monster Muleys and the stuff that goes on there. I'm a admin on www.azbasszone. and over the last 5 years I have seen some crazy stuff happen over there. I have also seen a few people get so upset they create a thread and say " there butt hurt and leaving for ever" Sounds to me like there are more and more thinned skinned people that are outdoorsmans then ever these days. To many people are more concerned with being " politically correct" than just living and enjoying life. This is just my honest opinion.

audsley Report post Posted September 20, 2008 I agree that skins have gotten a bit thin. If somebody wants to call me a pompous know-it-all, go for it. I'll get over it. It's a risk I take with some of my posts, and I'm aware of it.

ghost hunter Report post Posted September 20, 2008 When I saw this thread, I thought "What did I miss?" Tell me if you want, (pm so you don't get it stirred up again) but I agree that this site has changed a bit over the years BUT it is still way better than most. I used to go to MM.com but havent been there in years. I agree with Scottyboy. Read what you want, skip the rest. No law says you gotta read all the new posts. I am here every day and by the number of posts I've made, you can see I just look for good stuff, read it and move on. Admittedly, I have banged out a few responses but have calmed down before I hit the "Add Reply" button. FWIW
Hooked_on_Coues Report post Posted September 20, 2008 Now I feel guilty. Casey I would like to apologize for the whole "goat sucker" thing... I gues I have missed something. This forum is so much mellower than MM its night and day.
