AzTrapper Report post Posted October 2, 2008 im living right in the heart of 36a, well and close enough to B across the street : When are your hunt dates? I will be having a big BBQ one of the nights I live in the North end of 36A, Close to Pima Mine rd. & Mission. My hunt starts Nov 7th and goes to the 13th. My early scouting hasn't show me much here in the north end. But it seems the best scouting times are just begining for me. I know there was some nice bucks here last year after the season, which kind of surprized me with all the hunters that showed up last seasons. seems like the word got out on how to get into the area. I know I wish I had a Mule deer tag instead of a whitetail as I have seen a couple of three huge bucks in places you would never think they would be so to speak. Of course the fact that there are more mountain lions in this area than I would like to see. So if you plan on hunting the north end of 36a besure to get a mountain lion tag as well. aztrapper where at do you see a lot mountain lions? I've been trying to get one for a lot of years maybe you can help. Your right in the middle of Lion heaven!
georgenoto Report post Posted October 2, 2008 I will be in 36A for the 11/28 hunt. I expect to camp out, but I may be alone so I am not sure yet. Generally a couple miles past the farm gate. I am not a fan of camping alone, but what can you do. Let me know if you are going to be in the area. I prefer to stay near somebody if possible. I can only sleep with one pistola in each hand. stanley Report post Posted October 2, 2008 Myself and a buddy both have the late Nov/Dec tags. We'll likely be camping-out for the opening weekend. Probobly camp along the Botemonte Ranch road, just a 1/2 mile or so from the Arivaca road. Same location that Gabe Paz (WM for 36A) has been hosting the youth camps & ranch clean-ups the past couple of years. You're welcome to join our camp if you would like.... Let me know, S. peckl1 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 I'll be camping out by the Penitas Hills area from Nov 7th to Nov 21st. I have the mule deer hunt. If you see a silver chevy Z71 and a green cabelas tent that's me. Stop in and say hello. My brother will be out during the hunt but not before. The spot is pretty big so if you want to camp there come on. Lee
schmalts Report post Posted October 17, 2008 I have the December Muzz hunt, and looking mostly for Mule deer. I am not sure where to camp as I will be solo for the most part. Guys have told me the campground near the lake is the safest. Anyone have any opinion?

MRL1984 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 I'll be in 36A on the first hunt camping with pops. I am really just curious why there are so many of you who are unwilling to camp in the 36's alone. It's not like you have to worry about bears... I've spent a big portion of my 24 years in some of those hills in A and B at least and the only thing that ever scares me is the rattlesnakes. Some of them things are huge! Oh thats right there are those, coyotes with guns...
Hunting6 Report post Posted October 20, 2008 I am really just curious why there are so many of you who are unwilling to camp in the 36's alone. It's not like you have to worry about bears... I have been in there a bunch alone also, and its not so much the Coyotes with guns, but alot of those people (Illegals) are desperate for food & water and will take chances that normally wouldn't occur. Many of them can become thieves in the night, of which I myself had the misfortune to be caught up in the middle of, Thank God they weren't armed, I was... but that gives little comfort when you are still half asleep and you are not sure how many of them are around you. I am not a fan of shooting someone even if I have to because it's the US citizen (ie. ME) that will suffer from the ordeal. It's total BS what is happening down there, and if you haven't experienced any episodes then you are lucky. I have had a few run-ins with them, both drug runners and normal illegal border crossers. I haven't had to shoot, and I pray I don't ever have to. I still camp alone down there, but I try to strategize all of my options to minimize any surprises prior to where I spend the night

They all were handled!
