O/U chokes for doves

Maybe a dumb question, but I haven’t hunted with O/U before. Info I’ve found online seems to vary…what is everyone’s preference for O/U chokes for doves? Any preference or recommendation on which barrel to fire first?

I have done 90% of dove hunting with a Modified Choke. If you can find a place that has Collard Doves that fly low and slow you might want a IC Choke.

Yeah with my semi-auto I’ve gone back and forth between mod and IC. Now 2 barrels with 2 different chokes…I only have one of each tube right now so I’m thinking through that strategy.

I run IC and LM for early season dove.  

Late season, I switch to LM and M.

When using an O/U for dove I've always used a Modified choke for the top barrel and an IC for the lower barrel. I usually use the lower IC barrel first then the upper MOD barrel second. The idea being shooting first at closer range then taking a longer follow up shot if you miss or there are two birds. If the birds are mostly flying strait towards me I reverse the order. With a single barrel gun I go with a Modified choke.

+1 on Evan T.  I do exactly the same for the same reasons in my O/U in 20ga.

Thanks. This is exactly what I ended up doing too. (IC lower firing first, Mod upper firing second) I missed a LOT but I’m 100% certain it had nothing to do with the gun or choke selections. 🤔😁
