It's only possible if you (the user) make it possible.  My Rights As An American is mistaken. The site absolutely does NOT share e-mail addresses or other contact info en-mass.  .

To make sure you are not sharing;  Go to your profile and click edit.  Look under 'contact methods', and make sure you have not put your e-mail address or other info in that area. 

As a side note, IF someone has made their email address available by listing it under the contact methods section, sending messages back and forth has nothing to do with whether it is visible or not.  Simply click on anyone's profile any time, and if the contact info is there, you can see it.

Yes, what Stanley said. Sorry about that, they are system generated emails, not direct emails when PMs come through. I had to look back at my emails.
