success in 22

Howdy all,

well my dec hunt is over. After much anticipation and scouting, I tagged out 8am on the 19th. I was glassing a canyon where I had seen this buck 2 weeks ago when he appeared on a trail in the manzanita below me. I ranged him at 218 yds and then laid my #1 across the tripod and ended my hunt. The 95 gr ballistic silvertips I loaded for my .243 performed perfectly. While I am

somewhat disappointed with the early end, I am extremely happy to be blessed with such a fine animal. He did have a doe with him that hung around after the shot, in fact I finally ran her off when I hiked down to retrieve him. I guess I'll spend the rest of my vacation chasing birds. Good luck to all that are still hunting. P.S I sent a pic to Amanda so hopefully it will be posted soon

Thanks everyone - Happy Holidays

I saw several other bucks but not as many deer overall as I have seen in southern units. Younghunter I'm going back to shoot those quail I jumped every morning on the way in. They about gave me a heart attack

Congratulations, Rugerman! Venison and quail breasts over the Holidays sounds like some good eating in the works. Merry Christmas.

Rugerman

I dream about those early tag outs, but never can seem to find the right deer to make it a reality.

Congratulations! Go spend some time with the family now.
