Firewater Forge Report post Posted August 3, 2021 One of the last guns retrieved from my late Uncle's collection. It is made by Pedersoli, looks like a Remington rolling block but is a .50 muzzleloader. Pull the hammer back, roll the "block" back and there is a breech plug/nipple there. Maybe I am a purist, but this is bizarre to me. I owned a functioning 50-70 antique Remington rolling block and I just don't get the point. Kinda like having a fiberglass sportscar kit that goes on a VW pan.
25-06 Report post Posted August 3, 2021 I don't know anything about it. But I think it's really cool.
Edge Report post Posted August 3, 2021 I'll take a shot in the dark at an explanation. It was manufactured in Europe with the European gun market in mind where there are tight controls on weapons firing cartridges. Not so restrictive on black powder/percussion guns. I read recently the number 1 selling target pistol in all of Europe is the Pedersoli 1858 Remington .44 cap and ball revolver. So if you want an operating Remington Rolling block over yonder cross the pond, Pedersoli made you one in percussion.
