Firewater Forge Report post Posted August 3, 2021 One of the last guns retrieved from my late Uncle's collection. It is made by Pedersoli, looks like a Remington rolling block but is a .50 muzzleloader. Pull the hammer back, roll the "block" back and there is a breech plug/nipple there. Maybe I am a purist, but this is bizarre to me. I owned a functioning 50-70 antique Remington rolling block and I just don't get the point. It was manufactured in Europe with the European gun market in mind where there are tight controls on weapons firing cartridges. Not so restrictive on black powder/percussion guns. I read recently the number 1 selling target pistol in all of Europe is the Pedersoli 1858 Remington .44 cap and ball revolver.
