tthrasher Report post Posted December 22, 2004 Last year I hunted in 34b and found out how big the country could be. I did get a buck on the last day of my hunt, but this year I would like to try an area where I can get away from the roads for a few days at a time and have a chance at a real trophy. I would also like to find a Javelina if I can. If any one has some info on the remote backpack hunts in unit 36b please let me know at theath74@yahoo.com. TREESTANDMAN Report post Posted December 22, 2004 Tthrasher, I will tell you exactly where to go to find tons of bucks and pigs. Take Mt. Champago turnoff. Drive west 3.4 miles. Park your car on the side of the road on the north side. Go straight north down into the canyon and follow the bottom of the canyon east for 1.6 miles. From there head north again and climb to the top of the ridge. You will see a large canyon w/ 2 bowls and a long saddle. Glass the bowl on the right side and you will find pigs and bucks everywhere. Good luck and don't tell anyone about this spot. It is a family secret we have had for years.

gnoto Report post Posted January 19, 2005 spent the weekend in 36A. Tons of Coues. Heards upwards of 40 deer! Few bucks mostly 3x's. The does were very large. Saw a few piggies too. I watched 3 guys walk off a hill Sunday just before dusk. There was anentire heard on the hill below them and they never noticed. I tried to get tehir attention but beign quiet and getting somebodys attention are hard. They walked by two different 3x's within 25 yds inmy estimate and the coues just stuck it out never moved. Amazing deer. Unfortunatly I was onthe ridge line I figured they were going to cross ,but he sun would not hold out for me. GN
