Bear Hunting on the San Carlos

I have a friend interested in doing the Oct. hunt on the San Carlos. Right now they have A,B & D tags available. I was thinking maybe a B tag and doing spot/stalk off the Black River.

Anybody have any feedback or words of wisdom on this? I just started hunting the San Carlos for javelina two years ago, but I have only hunted the southeast portion of C. Thanks in advance, JLG.

What is the web site to find the costs of the bear tags? Sorry I have never hunted the rez.

I don't see how you could go wrong near the black river. I was there not too long ago and saw 3 bears two sows and one nice boar. They all decided to come by and say hello at less than ten yards! Was'nt too scared until the big male showed up!!!!!!

San Carlos has changed their website several times in the last year, twice in just the last couple weeks, but here is one they posted on Aug 25

I have seen quite a few mule deer on the res. don't know why they don't have a season.

They currently reserve mulies for tribal member hunts only.

In that case where do I sign up to become a member? LOL! I have seen some hogs out on the res.
