IHunt2live Report post Posted August 29, 2008 Crazy! Too bad you didn't get a shot opportunity! I think lion season is still closed, isnt it? I believe it is year round. Could be wrong, but he appeared to be stalking me once he spotted me. Check the regs. you couldn't "harvest" a lion till monday. but if you felt your life was in danger and you feel you have no other options then I say shoot. But I think its smart to yell first rather then risk loseing your hunting privileges.

IHunt2live Report post Posted August 29, 2008 With Game & Fish you are always Guilty until proven innocent... Might be true in some cases but the guy who shot the first reintroduced wolf in az, it was the defender of wildlife that pushed for a lawsuit but the game and fish decided there was no case. bobbyo Report post Posted August 29, 2008 Stalker, Because it happened to you it is a funny story. I think a bow is a pretty useless weapon if the lion has you dead to rights. How many of us could calmly shoot our bow at a lion that would be coming right at us? This reminds of a story my friend had. He and his son were sitting two different water holes close together. His son calls his dad on the radio. "Dad there is a lion at the water." My friend thinks wow what a great opportunity to get a lion with a bow. He uses his varmint call and readies for his shot. He thinks to himself what a hero he is going to be. Then he sees a gold flash coming straight at him at 50 miles an hour. He quickly ditches his bow stands and waves his arms violently and screams in a manly way just like Stalker. The lion veers off at about 20 yards and did a quick circle before leaving. Can you say soiled underwear. Bob

Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted August 29, 2008 That is what you get for going hunting while the rest of us were at work!!!!! Great story.... That would be an awesome memory.... even better if you could have tacked his pelt to the barn wall!!! Yeah, I just don't understand why they don't allow archery deer and archery lion to open on the same day, not to mention bear and lion on the same day.... not uncomon to call in a lion while calling bears. AZGF... not thinkin' about how to best keep lion numbers down and deer numbers up!

Mangum Report post Posted August 29, 2008 Heck I would have called him in closer. KITTY KITTY KITTY so i could use my knife on him. At least if you killed him with a Knife you could have claimed it was self defense. Then when ever you grand kids want you to tell them a story you've got a real whopper.
