Flingingarrowsbro Report post Posted June 9, 2021 I am going on a backpack trip middle of July. I usually buy meals from Heathers Choice. She is pretty much sold out. What are other good options. Please don't say MRE or Mountain House
Curtis Reed Report post Posted June 9, 2021 Packit Gourmet. What’s wrong with MH? I love their chicken and rice or chili mac!

elkaholic Report post Posted June 10, 2021 Not positive it was MH ,but had a gallon size of lasagna with meat. Sat up north at property trailer 10 yrs . In a shed 5 yrs. In out travel trailer 2. We just opened it last month. Surprised that it wasn't only edible but actually tastey! Finished it , no problem.
zackcarp Report post Posted June 10, 2021 I've had Ready Wise, MH and Peak refuel. Ready wise is ok. Peak refuel has more calories, less sodium and more protein than MH. But MH does taste the best IMHO.
Curtis Reed Report post Posted June 10, 2021 High sodium is actually a good thing when hunting and hiking up and down mountains. Helps fight dehydration. Added bonus! Not for everyday consumption of course. There is a reason there is sodium in Gatorade.

Viper Report post Posted June 12, 2021 MH has Pro Pack meals. I just discovered this when shopping at REI. They are twice the protein.
Kenshyi Report post Posted April 7 I do all my own dehydrating too, but I also pack a few things I don’t have to prep. One thing I’ve started bringing along is organic goat whey protein. It's lighter than regular protein powders and easier on my stomach at altitude. I mix it with cold creek water in a shaker bottle and it keeps me going during midday climbs without a full meal. Ed67 Report post Posted April 7 Not with vacuum sealer but used heavy duty flat bottom ziploc bags that can handle boiling water. Can break down the larger freeze dried meals and use less bulk in uiu pack.
