John O Report post Posted August 26, 2008 Yesterday was my first day ever bowhunting deer. By 9:30 am I was done. I am still waiting to wake up from this dream. A lot of study and preparation went into this. I was by myself, and hoping that I would at least be able to attempt a stalk. I glassed up a little spike, put him to bed, and after about 30 minutes I was off. I started my stalk from about 1000 yards, and all went well until the wind shifted and he winded me from 73 yards. I had planned to get to 40 before taking a shot, but it was now or never. Fortunately I had added a 70 yard pin last week for such an occasion. I heard it hit, and hit hard and could not believe it. After 30 minutes of waiting, I followed the blood trail and found him. It was 90+ degrees and humid, so I had to hustle to get him home and cooled down. He is no trophy, but in my mind he might as well be a 120 inch 4X4. I can't describe how great it feels. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
