Edge Report post Posted May 17, 2021 Each year my ol lady and her crazy BFF of 40 years, plan a vacation. Korea, Anguilla, AK; etc... Found out this morning we have a 40' houseboat reserved for a week on Lk Tahoe next month. So I'm digging up info on the fishing there. Anyone fish it? I've fished nearby Lk Topaz but never Tahoe. The BFF is an accomplished fly fisher, I'll do some, but I plan to rely on the old cowbells

The BFF I mentioned is a resident on the NV side. I'm sure portions of the lake near docks will be a zoo. I'll be as far as possible from the clusters.
n2horns Report post Posted May 17, 2021 let me know if you hit bottom. Lake Tahoe I have heard has great fishing from bluegill and trout to sockeye salmon. Fishing the trout/salmon is deep water down rigging/trolling 60 ft and deeper. When I fish new places, I like to get a guide on one of the first few days I am there and pick his brain etc.. and figure out fishing from there.
HorseHunter Report post Posted May 17, 2021 Gold spinners were the ticket in the 80’s but I was a kid and had to wade in the cold/clear water while on a family vacation with no boat. My father in law slays them consistently on high mountain lakes with flys on a spinning rod with a clear weighted bobber and six foot of leader. I’m really good at fishing, catching is another story unfortunately. My brother reminds me that lures are primarily designed to catch fishermen first and foremost. Sounds like a fun trip, enjoy! 452b264 Report post Posted May 17, 2021 Jigging at 180 ft. +/- and you will be rewarded with 10 plus pound lake trout, the average rainbow we used to catch was 5 lbs. fishing the inlets to the lake.

Edge Report post Posted May 18, 2021 The ol lady has blonde moments, a lot of them. Pressing her for details on the boating she utters the words..."Lk Shasta." I correct her, it's Lk Tahoe. No, they've rented the boat on Shasta. She can't understand why I'm a little bummed. My contempt for CA could fill volumes.
