seek100plus Report post Posted August 15, 2008 Word on the street is that in Gila county there are a group of teenagers & young adults armed with cordless grinders stealing anything they come across... I don't know if that is true, but if so.... there is no theft proof method that will beat a grinder...... I heard somewhere #4 buck is a great deturrent to cordless grinder weilding theives. I lock my stuff up just to keep the honest guys honest. I also try and keep them far enough in and secluded enough that the guys haulin bolt cutters cant get in. I use a custom one enterprises lock box with a python lock on my expensive camera. On my 50 and 100 dollar wildviews i use 1/4 in aircraft cable with a padlock. Any guy packin a hatchet or bolt cutters can steal ANY of my rigs. I've heard of guys cutting down trees to get a camera. Camera theives are the same as any other theif. They don't care how much stuff they have to tear up to get to your goodies. I was thinking of a trip wire hooked to a gatlin cross bow , would do the trick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GodIsGood Report post Posted August 15, 2008 In addition to NOT saving the camera, the pepper spray devices will jack-up your honey hole for a period of time - maybe ruin it for your hunt. Cant you engineer-types come up with a small power source, a coil, and few wires to make it a SHOCKING experience to try and boost a camera?
coueschaser3 Report post Posted August 15, 2008 the idea is to make it look like a camera is in a security box, but is not. just rigged to go off when its opened. simple and cheap. also for the test im gonna camo my cam on video mode way up in a tree just to see it work. Im not going to put them on my spots just places a ways back that might work.........say any random water hole. Once the word spreads, them folks gonna think twice before opening any camera box. or camera.
erucker Report post Posted August 15, 2008 Suppose a permanent Die may work. That way if we advertise it and people see some purple people around town they will know they are thieves. Or maybe some sort of paintball that fires out. I will have to try a few.... ER

Or maybe some sort of paintball that fires out. I will have to try a few.... Just don't forget which camera you've rigged. I want to see the post of the guy who trips his own rigged camera. Priceless! Later, MAtt
