For sale, Winchester model 1892 chambered in 32 20. 24" octagon barrel. Manufactured on 19&10. Bore is shiny with no pitting. All original parts except for peep site (doesn't come with). Part's match. Finish is a brown pateen highly sought after by the cowboy shooters. Had appraisal done that came in at 1200. I might consider partial trades for Rossi or like in 38/357. This gun functions well and shoots straight. Text me @ 520)272-9162

Mod 70 SS .300 Weatherby, With BOSS and BOSS-CR, New Haven Connecticut — Like New!
Buano posted a topic in Classified Ads
I have a Winchester Model 70 Stainless—Synthetic rifle in .300 Weatherby magnum with both BOSS and BOSS-CR. This is a controlled round feed rifle that was made in New Haven, Connecticut back when Winchester was Winchester. It has a bead-blasted non-reflective matt finish. When I got the rifle it was "used" but hadn't even been broken in. I broke in the rifle carefully, cleaning between every shot with JB Bore Bright for 10 rounds, then every other round for the next 10 rounds. Once I adjusted the BOSS for the bullets I was shooting I found it was a shooter — as I then shot several sub .5" groups with factory Weatherby 180 grain shells! Although I'm sure this could shoot even better, I never did anything else to the rifle. For those that don't know the BOSS system, it is a system for tuning the harmonics of the barrel to match your load instead of having to find a load that will work with a specific rifle. The system WORKS! The standard BOSS incorporates a muzzle-brake (with ports angled forward to reduce muzzle blast) that can be adjusted to lengthen or shorten the barrel to change barrel harmonics. I also have a stainless steel BOSS-CR (never used) that is interchangeable with the standard BOSS for when you want to adjust barrel harmonics for improved accuracy but do not want a muzzle-brake — and the muzzle blast from a brake. Many outfitters & guides do not want muzzle brakes as they can do serious ear damage to hunting guides or others in the party. The BOSS-CR is made for those times. (I don't believe they still make the BOSS-CR, so this item is effectively priceless.) Once harmonics are adjusted you can change between the BOSS and BOSS-CR without loss of accuracy. I will include recommended BOSS settings for various bullet weights. Only minor adjustment should be needed from there. This rifle weighs just 7 pounds 9 3/4 ounces with the BOSS and yet handles the .300 Weatherby round quite well. It is a perfect mountain elk & Muley cary-rifle, light enough to cary yet heavy enough to shoot well. It would also make an excellent "bean field rifle" as the .300 Weatherby is capable of taking deer at more than 1,000 yards! The only blemish is a small surface scratch on the bottom of the magazine door where a sling buckle vibrated against it in a double case. This could easily be removed with bead-blasting if someone wanted to. There are no other blemishes! Although I did put around 45 rounds through this rifle breaking in the barrel and sighting it in, I have never hunted with it and the barrel was never allowed to get hot. I will also throw in a set of 30mm Talley ultra-light aluminum rings with integral bases. The only reason I'm putting it up for sale is that a friend gave me a stainless Mark-V in .300 Weatherby (Yes, he's a very good friend.) and I have no way to justify two .300 Weatherby rifles for one hunter. (Selling a rifle or 2 should make the wife happy, and when she's happy...) Asking $1,150 with both BOSS & BOSS-CR. I'm open to trades. Currently I'm looking for an offshore boat (23-28') with trailer & associated gear, a good ATV, a 10-22 stainless, and a nice .410 or 28 gauge. (I can add cash if necessary.) I'm not looking for modern pistols or ARs. MAKE ME AN OFFER! Rifle is in North Carolina.- 3 replies

Weatherby, Winchester and Browning for sale...All guns are sold!
Tradbow67 posted a topic in Classified Ads
I'm helping a buddy sell a couple guns to help out with finances. The first is a Weatherby MK V in .257 Weatherby Magnum. The gun is from the mid 70's it is in very good condition. It has been ported, but not sure who did the work. It has 20 small holes drilled on each side of the barrel. The work is very precise and definitely professional. Rifle also has a factory Weatherby 2.75-10 power scope in tip off mounts. It was built for Weatherby by JP Sauer and has the short throw bolt. It is in a like new Winchester aluminum hard case. $1000. Winchester Model 101 Magnum Field 12 gauge over/under shotgun manufactured in 1971. This shotgun is in great shape. It has 30 inch barrels and fixed full/full chokes. Being the magnum model it will shoot 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. Also has a hard plastic takedown case. $800. He will entertain offers on both. I am selling a Browning High Power Safari Grade Bolt Action Rifle in .243 Winchester with a pencil barrel. This is a 1974 manufacture rifle that has been a safe queen for years. The wood is absolutely beautiful. The checkering is like new. The gun hasn't had a box of ammo fired through it. These were built by Sako for Browning. It has a Weaver scope base included. $950. I will be adding photos soon. I am located in Flagstaff.- 25 replies

I've been searching all over for .25-35 ammo and haven't had any luck. A guy in Tombstone told me Winchester stopped production back in 2002, but I've also heard elsewhere that they brought it back into production. He also said the .257 Roberts brass could be used to make it, but I know nothing about reloading. I sent an email to Winchester, but haven't heard anything back yet. They still show it on their website, so hopefully I can get my hands on some after the next production run. Thought I'd check on here to see if someone had any laying around, or knows anything about this round. Heck, even brass would be a great find. Thanks!

Experiences with a .338 win mag / Suggestions for wet weather?
kidso posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I am planning an Alaskan brown bear hunt for fall of 2017. I am interested in using a .338 win mag so it could also double as an elk gun in our state. Because I mostly hunt archery now, I have not followed industry changes in centerfire rifles. I do not build guns, nor do I reload, but I am interested in purchasing a solid factory .338 win mag that is basically weatherproof and could handle rain and snow without failing. Anyone have any advice on great guns for wet weather hunting based on their own personal experiences? Any comments on the new Savage line or Mossberg centerfire rifles? I see Mossberg has a 4x4 .338 win mag for around $400 bucks and Savage has a 116 Trophy Hunter .338 for $150 more with an included Nikon scope. Anyone have any experiences with these lower priced rifles? I do have a Browning A-bolt Stalker in .300 win mag, which I love, but want to use a bit more THUMP than that for brown bear. I might just get another A-bolt Stalker in .338 or a Remmington 70, but was curious about the Savage and Mossberg models I brought up. Thanks.- 27 replies

Two of my "collector" guns just taking up space. Maybe you can turn a worthwhile profit on these items at the Crossroads of the West gun show this weekend or market them yourself at other venues. I have shot them both and they are fun shooters. The Winchester is especially collectable. 1. Browning A5 autoloader 12 guage. Serial number (B14###) dates it to 1940-1945 when these shotguns were made in the USA in the Remmington factory, I think, due to German occupation of Belgium. Has a polychoke on its barrel tip. $500 2. Winchester 1906 pump .22 expert model. This is the rarest of the three 1906 models and had nickel plating as an option. Original wood and finish. Has an after market iron sight, but I have the correct sight that came with the rifle, but have never had it put back on. Serial numbers match (651###) and date it to 1926, I think. $600 You can buy them both for $1,000 or could be open to trade for
