Going to do some elk shed hunting this year for the first time. I usually go up north for Mule Deer and know when to go up there. In the past, an outfitter told me that the elk start dropping after Valentines day. Game and fish say March and April. Just don't want to go too early. Thanks.

I found this deadhead on a ranch here in Texas. I recently restored it and I was thinking this may be a Coues. I know it may be hard to tell but I have a suspicion it may be. Thanks for any help!

I found this dead head and carcass while shed hunting last April. Was wondering if it was a bull that shed it's antlers and then died or if someone either killed or found it dead and then sawed off the individual antlers? The base of sheds are really bumpy/gritty and not so flat/smooth, so I was guessing they might have been sawed off? Any thoughts?

A buddy and I went looking for coues deer and sheds Saturday. The weather was perfect and so was the day, we saw 7 bucks, 15 doe's and picked up 8 coues sheds. I picked up 5 which is the most I have ever found in one day, my buddy found the big one of the day.

What have you found in terms of finding desert mule deer antlers in the spring vs where you locate them in the fall in their home areas? We find big bucks during the rut but can't find them during the rifle seasons. This year we hope to go looking for sheds in the surrounding areas and were wondering if we happen to find these buck's sheds, is that where they'll be in the fall or is that a totally different area as well? I figured it might be since they're movement isn't snow related like high country deer and elk. Any thoughts and experiences are welcomed. Thanks

First time ever shed hunting in AZ and we found one brown, one chalk, and a couple old chewed up pieces. Not too bad for a first shot and being late to the game I guess. Hunted around north of Flag, saw plenty of elk but not a single deer or deer shed. Is that odd?

Not too hard, find the elk shed. I would say 90% of the sheds I find I glass first. Most of the other 10% are found hiking over to get the ones I glassed. The first pic is the find the shed ( I haven't picked it up, and pretty sure I never will). The second is one I glassed and picked up a couple of weeks ago. How about you guys? Glassing or walking?
