New to Dove - Where to Start?
GeronimoMMXI posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I have experience with big game and predator hunting but am absolutely inexperienced with dove here in Arizona or anywhere for that matter. I would love to get out there and give it a try but haven't the slightest idea where to start. I'm in the North Phoenix/Cave Creek area and would love any advice for a dove beginner. General location, things to look for, suggestions without a dog etc. -
Looking for some new recipes or techniques to spice things up this year! Usually, I make poppers and kabobs. Both are great, but looking for a change up.

I have a Garmin Delta Upland dog training collar and beeper for sale. I bought this brand new last year. It has been used in the field one time and at a training facility half a dozen times. This system comes complete with hanheld unit, collar, beeper, and charger. This unit is is great shape and functions flawlessly. I am selling to fund a project plus I just had shoulder surgery so I wont be bird hunting in the near future. I am asking $175 for this unit.Give me a shout 1-505-980-6747. This unit is also expanable with more collars.

So I finally found some time since we arrived back from Argentina to post some pics from our trip. Long story short, I was the winning bidder of a 5-Day Dove Hunting trip in Argentina at the San Tan MDF Banquet last year. It originally started as a trip for my wife and I but she ended up backing out a couple months before we were going to fly down. After about a month of making sure she wasn't testing me I asked my hunting bud if he'd be interested in going and it took him about a millisecond to respond "heck yeah!!". After a couple calls and emails with the outfitter we picked a date and booked our flights to the Dove Hunting Mecca, Argentina!!! Three flights later we arrive in Santiago Del Estero and meet our guide to take us to the lodge. We hunted all 5 days and saw an unbelievable amount of birds and beautiful country. Our bird boys hooked it up with Argentinian BBQ every day out in the field and kept the beers and shells flowing! I generally consider myself a meat-eater but these guys do not mess around down there. If you say yes to it they'll serve it up for breakfast, lunch and dinner!! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to cross it off their bucket list. The people are great and respectful. Food is amazing and the doves are just unbelievable!!

We were able to get out a couple times for the dove opener this year. Had some fun shooting and trying to limit out on the birds. I have to say, I do enjoy cooking and eating dove breast. I just finished up a plate for dinner too. (second photo)

I wanted to know if anyone knows if you are allowed to hunt in the Gila River or Salt River reservations? We used to hunt on the res back in Yuma to get away from the crowds and all you had to do was purchase a license from them. The terrain on the reservations up here (farm land) is closer to what I'm used to hunting and was wondering if any of the areas were huntable. I've looked at their websites but don't see anything about hunting on them. I've been told of a few places on the west side but don't want to drive that far so I'm looking for places closer to home in the east valley. Any help would be appreciated.
