Anyone here wondering what might have happened to this massive airliner that just "disappeared" over the Indian Ocean? I sure am, but the details are so sketchy, and there don't seem to be any real facts.
From what I've read from the various news channels, it seems really fishy.
The "black box" was somehow disabled - something that could only be done intentionally.
The flight pattern was altered. I've heard anything from 90 degree turn after a sudden drop to a steep incline to 45,000 feet where the passengers would have 10 minutes of oxygen while the cabin holding the pilots would have over an hour.
The political leanings of the pilots: Apparently, at least the head pilot was distraught after the recent elections.
The things going on in Ukraine. As my dad and I discussed just how bizarre this whole thing is, we also noticed how minimal the coverage is of this massive Russian takeover of Ukraine is, and whether this is just a diversion to keep us all looking the other way while Russia makes some really strategic moves. Palin and Romney both warned against the resurgence of Russia after her supposed collapse, while our whimp-in-chief declared the cold war was long over.
Fact is, neither China or Russia are content to let their heritage die - in fact they both hold on to some of the longest standing strongholds of world power in history.
Our rise was great, but let's face it. Chinese and Russian colleges are not teaching a philosophy of shame or guilt. They are poising themselves to reclaim dominance. Contrast that with what is being force-fed to us and our children. That our culture isn't so great, that we are oppressors, consumers and bullies.
That's probably a topic for another thread, but this whole thing looks like a set-up to me.
I think Putin is a remarkable strategist and realizes just how weak we've become and is capitalizing on it right now, and given the resources of his country, it's not too far a stretch to say this whole thing might have been orchestrated to keep our attention off of his reclamation of European countries.
