Has anyone ever harvested a whistling duck here in AZ? I just saw my first pair of them in a flooded area where I was walking my hunting dog. They were in full plumage and quite pretty.

what Kinda duck is this???Lake Pleasant

I see a similar but drab brown version of this duck quite a bit if it's the same species. It's a diver. Smaller than a Grebe with a shorter bill. 1st one Ive seen with this coloration....maybe breeding colors? Any idea of this mystery birds identity?
