Coues 'n' Sheep replied to grizzly's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Me too! My Grandfather was a heart transplant recipient in the early 90's and I have been a donor since then.... I used to give blood quite a bit as well.... have not been making a point to do you it these last few years. -
My boy drew the ML hunt in the same unit he had last year! He's going after the biggun' that was with his buck last season... hope he get a chance at him!!

Sorry Phil..... .... just wanted you to see that I responded to you.... Beau, the bugs are like dinasaurs! Casey, I am only showing you two pics out of like 750..... so I have lots of pics of that guy over a short span of time and am pretty sure that it is the same bull, however.... if it is not the same bull that is okay too! Based on the all the pics I am pretty sure that it is him, right down to the blond splash above his shoulder.

4/30/09..... is the date on the pic Phil..... that should be right, but not positive. I set my other Camera about that time (maybe a week later) and all the bucks had already dropped. Tyson, I am heading back there just as soon as I can get caught up on all my work.

You probably did see him/them... they are night shift right now, but if you saw them on Sunday they got called off the fire mid to late morning.... the choppers came in and hooked some of their gear to lighten the load for the trek out.... they were at the top of one those three tallest peaks. They have been called off the line several times.... and they hate it! The team in charge is doing the right thing by keeping the crews safe, but they (the Hot shots) would rather be up there fighting! Colton says look to see big fire and big smoke tomorrow! Sounds like they are gunna light her up!

A few weeks back I was in Bull Basin and tried a few new bows out and was very impressed! So much so that I really want a new bow for the summer and next years deer hunts (since that is the only tag I can seem to get) .... But I also saw some new sights and rests that I really liked and just thought it would be great to see what guys are setting up this year.... and what is the latest an greatest!!! Post um' up!!!!

Look for the fire to expand out to the roads that suround it before it is done..... As over grown as it is, that country needs to burn and I think they plan to manage it in such a fashion.

I had a grand thought today.... ..... I was thinkin' to myself..... Self, I should share this experience with each and every hunter I can.... ... Soo in the spirt of sharing... ... I am going to make lots of copies of the note that my new friend, Chris, left me and put them in every trail camera I come to! -
FYI... As of Yesterday they only had three hot Shot Teams on it, plus a few engines, and they were fighting a losing battle. They just got a new IC on the fire and he is moving swiftly to get those guys the help they need. They will most likely upgrade to a Type 2 team very soon as it is getting bigger. My Son said it was a wild night on the line last night... they got off shift before 8 am this morning and they were beat. It was a fire-storm on the mountain most of yesterday/last night and they were fighting to win at times cuz losing was not an option. He said they really broke-in their three rookies last night... they got to see the beast for the first time. He said the fire behavior has been "amazing" (They love what they do!) and that the fire is still winning. He says they have been felling 20' tall manzanitas instead of the usual tall pines (he is a sawyer) and the fire keeps flopping over the lines but they have beat every flop they have had so far on the line they were working. He also mentioned that the Sky Crane was their best friend a couple of times yesterday.... He is, as always, having the time of his life.... the more intense the fire becomes the more he loves it.... them Hot Shots are something else! I'll be prayin' for my Son and the rest of the Payson Hot Shots... they will be in harms way again tonight (and loving every minute of it), but I always have to worry when they are on these chaparral fires like this, they are the most dangerous, IMO. God Speed, Boys!!!

Well I started getting texts and emails a week or so ago about the flyer and the guys were saying that my wife, Tina, was on it.... I told them they must be mistaken. Well... we got our flyer in the mail this week and OMG .... there is my wife on the flyer!!! Anyhow, Amanda says she had nothing to do with it, but I know what a great woman hunter advocate she is so I'd like to thank her and the folks at the ADA for thinking that my Wife and her rifle buck was worthy for the flyer! My wife was very stoked and humbled by it.... she has always been very proud of that buck.
