Soloution to carry your Range Finder
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to stalkincoues's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Well.... I have been suppose to comment on this thread for some time... and forgot... But Christian asked me to try his product so I been meaning to use it and test it. As many of you know the summer is a hard time to test something that is attached to your hunting pack.... but I did get it all rigged up and tried it around the house. As best as I can tell this is going to be a great addition to my pack/hunting gear. I will know about it in the months to come as we prepare for this fall. The feed back on my end will be on going as the fall and winter progresses. As of right now I am looking forward to having it on my setup.... I hope it works well!! Thanks Christian, for the hook up. -
My wife bought me the Rino 530CHx and I love it! I added the topo program and it too is worth the $$$! it is easy to use and has tons of features and well as having the radio. I would recommend it to all of you.

3rd Annual Flagstaff Area CWT.com Get-Together!!!!!
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Lance's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
We had a great time!! Good to meet those that came and I guess we missed a few while we were down at the shoot.... next time.... Some was said that the Fathers Day w/e is not good time for the gathering, but I'd like to mention that...IMO.. it is the perfect time to be camping and outdoors as a family!! I really liked that it was the same time as the Mormon Lake Archery shoot.... I'd like to have been up there one day sooner and shot a course or two on Friday.... Lance, Thanks for being such a great host!!! You and your family are very kind to put that on for everyone! And your kids are awesome in our book! All the kids at this deal had even more fun than the adults, I think.... they were all Great and our dogs are still wore out for all the playin' they did with everyone's children!! Lance... those burgers were Great! B-Dog... Thanks for the leason on dutch oven Taters..... They were Awsome!!! Next time you should make it a point not to stay so long... Oh.... and I noticed that no one has asked about the outcome of that 100 yd shot..... So I thought that I'd comment it! Although I know that I have not shot over 50 yards for 1 1/2 - 2 years and I only had less than 12 shots on my new string before I showed up at camp... I still managed be closest.... and just edged out my Bro, Jeremy (which does NOT happen very often)!!! Probably just lucky though.... -
Followed this truck up Hwy 188 headed for Indian Point on Saturday morning..... Managed to tailgate you enough at the Cholla Boat Ramp turn off to snap this pic with my phone, but you can't read the sticker.... guess next time I'll have to get closer! BTW.... 2 days on the lake was a great time.... just boating, chilin', BBQin', and ice cold beverages!
-
Yes, I did mean the Sasquatch... thanks for letting me know about them! Seen one or two in the area myself once.... I think... As for "my side"... ... I call them all My Side of the Mountain!!! You just never know where I might show up!
-
Well I can't figure out how to make the eamil show up on the thread so i have sent it to several other guys her on the forum.... hopefully one of the can post the pics....

Heres a buck we killed a few years ago in 19A.... he was weak on paddles but still taped about 87 5/8 green. I've been very fortunate to have hunted that unit a lot in the last dozen years... and have seen it change a lot. That unit has been very good to us.... and it does help when you know the right people, too, as access is everything. Some of my very fondest hunting memories come from hunting speedgoats in 19A... You most certainly have a tag that I will only dream of ever having again, I am sure.... CONGRATS!!!

Baboquivari- Elk Horn Fire Effect?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Sorry, Doug but where was that fire? I know that in years paseed we have seen coues rutting on newly burn hill sides... if there is any green-up at all they will be there.... they are just like sheep in that respect. -
Congrats on the rams.... I am envious of your sheep hunting opportunities!! I want to go on another Dall hunt myself one of thes days... But I supose I should focus on my Rocky and my Stone first.... Those dang Stone hunts are really getting out of reach on cost. Congrats again... and you can never have too many sheep mounts on the wall... they are like coues... each one is unique!

Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Flash's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Jason, Anyone who contacts bowsniper (Mark) can get involved. Whether it be by internet circulation as I did or by donation as many others have done. Mark is very passionate about this topic and has donated tons of his own time and money to supporting this cause and he could use our help!!!! The only way that the voices get heard is if everyone speaks.... as Jason mentioned..... ACT NOW!!! Don't think this does not affect you.... it could affect you in more ways than you can imagine!!! BTW....Mark..... I have 300 stamps for you!!! I will send them with Mike O. next time I see him!! -

There are 350" bulls behind every tree in the state.... I had another hunter tell me the canyon I was hunting last years had a 400"er and atleast 3-4 other 350+" bull in it.... We killed His 400"er and it grossed 344"! Just my $.02 on the Numbers Game!

What Have We Been Up To? PART 2! FINISHED!!!
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Lance's topic in Buffalo Hunting
I'm sorry, but like I said at the beginning of this story, This story is about the journey and not the kill. If you dont like the other pictures,You can come back when the title says "Finished" But maybe he didn't even get one.... now you have to wait tell tonight for the end. Lance I love ALL the pics and the story Lance..... ... but the time delay is like waiting for the Cardinals to go to the Super Bowl.... ... after a while even the most patient fan has to wonder if we would ever get there!!!! -
Hey guys..... I once again find myself without a tag.... and green with envey. I'd like to share a thought with all you lucky Ladies and Gents that have tags.... Don't get too wrapped up in the numbers games... half of the folks out there that are pitching the big numbers around are tape stretchers in the first place. Hunting is just like fishing...The phrase First Liar Doesn't Stand a Chance!... is one of my favorites about the numbers game. If you saw a Great 320 bull the next guy saw two 350s and the next guy saw a two 400s... etc, etc.... Set goals and try to visuallize what your "No Brainer" is, so that when you see it, your only thought is Shooter! Don't allow that numbers game to deminish your outdoor and hunting experience! If you are like me and love the chase as much or more than the harvest than it is not hard to go home empty handed.... but to others filling the tag is the measure of success and that is great too! Whatever your personal goals are be sure they are yours and not someone else's preconceived notions of what your hunt should be. Remember, in reality.... a 400 incher is like a supermodel... there are a few of them out there but we are not all going home with one tonight! Live the dream, enjoy the hunt, get bloody, and measure your success with Your tape measure....not someone elses. Best of luck to you all and maybe we will see you out there!

Baiting/Salt rule?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Flash's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Whether you use it as a scouting tool... or a method of hunting, the implications that are tied in with banning of minerals (or any "bait") could potentially and probably will affect ALL hunters. I for one have used salt as a scouting toolmany times... but I have never harvested a single game animal off of salt.... however, so many water holes, trick tanks, springs, etc. in AZ have salt on them that these locations could be potentially illegal to hunt depending on how a WM was to "interpret" a new law... ... Not to mention the leverage that Aniti's would now have to sabotage hunts if they were to start combatting us with salt and grain.... More over complicating the lives of the ranchers as well.... we all know that if you make it a pain in the butt to have hunters on the ranch lands, then even more gates will be locked. No matter what your take is on "Baiting" we all lose if this law or anything like it gets passed in this state. There are many ways to control the REAL Issue at hand in this debate.... one very simple and cost effective way would be for the AZGF and the USFS to (I know-"Keep Dreaming") work together and enforce/ticket for littering and the importation of non-native species (ie. spreading mass quanities of grains/seed).... we have laws already in place that can and will impact/check the real issue at hand... Why would any hunter support a law that could have serious reprocusions in many hunting situations.... Example..... Early rifle bull tag.... big herd of elk in a meadow near a tank.... Big herd bull running off rag heads and rutting cows... you shoot when the bull clears the group and he drops in his tracks...WHOOO HOOOO!! You are over there taking pictures and begining to field dress the bull when a WM comes driving up the road, sees you, stops and walks over..... "Hey great bull!".... "Thanks!"..... "Hey, umm, you do understand that I am gunna have to take your bull as soon as you have finished up field dressing him right?" "What!! You ARE kidding right????" "No Sir...You see this established salt lick right here 20 feet from your bull? From what I can see here you shot this bull on bait and that is in direct violation of A.R.S...Blah Blah..... and I will have to ticket you and confiscate this animal."...... Any law like this implies that you had better know (be clairvoyant) where your animal is gunna hit the dirt or you better be able to prove your case in court and be able to afford a good attorney. Be carefull you all.... divide and conquer... that is the name of the game for those that hate our sport. Support the Enforcement of the existing laws in place and Oppose More Laws that further complicate things for all hunters!!! All for one and one for all!!! bowsniper has been at the forefront of the fight for hunter's rights on this topic and is one of the most educated about what is going on with it. I'd encourage you all to PM him and get a copy of the Really Great Flyier that he has put togther and do your part to help spread it around to all your friends and hunters that you know in an effort to eduacate everyone on how to get their voice heard on this topic while someone is listening.... make no mistake that every voice counts on this topic!!! The Commissioners are very eager to hear from the public on this topic.... do your part and be a hunter's rights advocate! Regardless of how you hunt, laws like this affect us ALL!!!!
