Bighorn Sheep information?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to anthonyrmatthews's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
First let me say Congrats on drawing a sheep tag!!! As you have been told it is a tough hunt. There is another member of this site that had that tag a few years back and was not successfull and he is to my knoweldge a very good hunter.... so that should attest how how tough a hunt it can be. My thoughts are, that since it is such a long hunt you can go at it for a month or more on your own and have a chance to fill the tag.... and then if it proves harder than one would hope... you could always hire someone later. Here is something to keep this in mind for hunt prep..... DO NOT: shotgun guys all over the unit to look.... they might "bump" sheep, or exhaust all of your "Buddy" resources in the opening weeks of the hunt.... try to schedule it out so you can always have atleast one "Buddy" with you... it will help keep you mind right (sheep hunting alone can eat you up if you are alone). I would focus on learning access, planning my hunt, and talking to anyone that will listen or wants to tell you about sheep in 9-10, from now till Oct. If you happen to see sheep on your prescouting trips, great, but those sheep are hard to find and likely will not be in the exact same spot come hunt time anyhow. Learn the deep places people have seen them and then how to get to those places... how to get in the canyon... use a gps and with a map program and log every place that you come accross that will allow you access to the inner canyon. Best of luck on your hunt.... and don't just assume that sheep only live in the vertical stuff. -
Here is a few pics to get all those who got skunked... hyped for the archery hunt! The Big Eyeguard Buck... as we call him. I have pics of him be fore he dropped as well. 7/1/09 is the date of this pic. If I have hard horned pics of this guy then he really grew..... once he finishes... I'll compare. 7/14/09 on this pic. Here is where it gets interesting..... I have always called them yard birds but this one looks like it belongs in someone's front yard!! this is one of my best trail cam pics ever IMO.... Not only is it a white hen, but she has a beard!!! We all gathered around the computer and did the " Ewww.... Ahhhh... Wow!" on this one.... you guys may have seen a bearded white hen before but we have not! And just a couple of little bulls from one of my old faithfull spots.... A harsh lesson learned this time... I had a faulty SD card in my best bull cam.... I can't get it to read or to take any pics on an cam.... I was a hot Son-of-a-Gun.... I know now that I need to test my cards before putting them out....

Thanks, Buddy. -
Hey all. I have a house in Pine, AZ that I have had a really good friend renting from me and it is now empty so I am going to sell it or possibly rent it.... If it is empty come hunting season I will possibly offer it as a Weeky Rental for hunters. I own this home outright so I can provide owner carry financing on this home. It is a 3bd, 2bath home, with large 2 car garage, vaulted living and dining room on a lot near Hardscrabble Road less than a 1/2 mile from the national forest. The inerior was repainted and recarpeted 1-1 1/2 years ago and all looks like new still. The exterior is new concrete siding on 3 sides (new 2-3 years ago) and a slump block face on the street side.... It has wood heat as well as an electric forced air furnace. My terms are flexable I am really interested in trying to make it work for a buyer and make it work for me as well. All closings and fianacial stuff to be handled by Pioneer Title in Pine, so any first time home buyers will still be able to quailfy for the $8000 the Feds are giving! If you have questions please post them here and I will get back to you on them ASAP.

FYI.... I am probably going to list this house in the next week or so and the price will go up to cover realitor comissions. Thanks for looking.

Going for Coues out of Globe
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Firearrow's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
It does not matter where you hunt, just so have a concentration of deer there... It is going to be hard to connect on a coues with your limited knowlege of the areas and your limited time frame.... however hard work, and a little luck will eventually get you a buck. Spot and stalk coues hunting is one of the toughest things you can do unless you really understand them and spend lots of time around them. Perfect timing on when to hunt will also help you to score a good buck. I personally would recomend that you spent a day or two looking for the right spot, throw down a ground blind and ambush one... you might have better success that way.... Good Luck. -
Great pics, thanks for sharing! That last pic looks like a pretty good bull to me!
-
I'm with you Houston. And it Great bull for any 16 year old regardless of score! Everything looks smaller to me on still pics but with only one pic to look at I have be conservative... .... 335ish..... Yeah... well....everyone always cusses me for "low balling".... I just hate being high. Thanks for posting him up.
