Being patient after the shot....
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Here is one that I have posted before.... This shows what I preach about aiming low..... -
I'd try an online search.... but I think the 500's and the Rangers take like 13-16 oz in the dif's.... Best of luck...
-
Just move North, Mike! I know a place! You will be much happier here....

I am looking for a smaller and cheaper gunsafe just to put my ammo and such in.... Anyone got any ideas or no where I can find one???

What weird stuff have you glassed or happen well glassing for game?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to seek100plus's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Well I have a spot that I glass from and we have seen what appears to be an alluminum extention ladder in the middle of a wilderness area! Actually Buckhorn was with me when we noticed it....This thing is a long and brutal ways from the nearest trail or road.... However we do have a theory or two about how it got there. One of these days I'll make it over to where it is at, but I am not in any hurry to see it close up... -
Congrats, Josh! That mount has got to take up like half of that room! Time for a Bigger house....higher on the mountain!
-
Sorry, Mike.... Not much help for you here, but I'll keep an open ear.

Well here is the scoop.... I just found some property that I can't live with out!! The building site is just awesome, IMO.... and it has EVERYTHING that I want.... and I don't have to leave town. But in order to buy it I'm gunna have to sell the house I am in now, first. I know it is tough times but this is not your average home either. It has it all... I designed it, and built it... and my next one will be almost exactly like it, cuz we love this house! There is something for everyone: For the ladies.... 2050 livable sq. ft. 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home with in floor hydronic heat as well as a high efficiency wood stove, R23 insulation in the walls and R38 in the ceilings, Vaulted Cedar plank ceilings in the 20'x20' living room with open to below upstairs balcony/sitting area. All wood doors and saw curfed jams in the interior as well and custom colored concrete in the kitchen, dinning, entry areas. Custom materbath with travertine throughout the floors, shower, and soaker tub surround, as well as custom cherry cabinets and custom granite vanity top and hammered copper sinks. Aproximately 1000 sq. ft. of covered patios with fantastic mountain views and additional paver patio area. 5500 sq ft of manicured and sprinklered 3 year old sod and lots of well cared for trees. For the gents..... Over 2000 sq. ft. of garage, carport, and shop area! The shop it set up to pull in toys for working on or just storing. Tons of shelf storage, lots of cabinets and benches for reloading and bow equipement. A large beam was installed in the ceiling of the unheated shop for winter and fall meat hanging. Also aproximatley 6 cords of wood storage coverd at the back of the shop, a small tool shed out back, a 60 yard archery range and a concrete deep pit (BBQ) out back as well. Lots of room on the 2/3 acre lot for horse shoe pits, a grand fire pit, and even small horse corrals, and just a short two minute quad/ ranger/ truck ride for national forest! I know what this house is worth and that no corners were cut in the construction anywhere! This is a house I (we) planned to live in for a very long time, and still might (without regret) if I don't sell it in the next 90 days. I am planning to list this house with my realitor in the next few days most likely and will be asking about $480,000. However, on here right now (until it is listed) I will take $450,000. Oh, and if a CW.com member buys this house I will be giving a check to Amanda for letting me advertise it here. If anyone wants more info Please post here and I will/can post/pm/email you the info you are after. Thanks For Reading.

PM sent W.O.T. You can sit on the front porch and glass elk, coues deer, pigs, turkeys, and even an occational carp deer in the tall pines and oaks on the mountain 500 yds from the front door..... and you can almost triple your glassing area at the house by sitting on the roof! I have had bulls as large as 370+ watering at the pond next to my house in the past and we have a couple of coues that live year around between the house and the creek.

Even more country north of 260, Doug.... Don't try to steer the poor guy as far from your end as possible... Seriously, there is a TON of country in that unit that holds coues..... just pic a piece and learn it! Be SUPER patient... they are there. Don't get discouraged if you see carp deer too.... there are lots of places in 6a where a guy can see both. If it gets down to the wire and you still have not found any deer I'll toss you a bone if you pm me. Good luck to you and your Dad. And tell him Thanks for us.... I (we) are so very gratefull for his sacrifices and service to our country.

Got a Well?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to GameHauler's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
There is nothing in the works to solve the water issue in Mesa Del..... .... Looks like they need to start moving in the direction that Pine did.... looks like they are close to gettting control of that water company... if you can believe what you read.... -
Fuggetabout It!!! We spray down... but that is about it.... all you can do is try but I think that Sent Lock crap is just lik throwing lots of $$$$ away... IMO.... A good grount blind is the best sent control, IMO.... had deer come from down wind and behind the blind and still walk right past..... Good Luck, Johnny!

Bout time you get social again.... Great conversation, thanks for the call, Amigo! -
Am I the only one that does not understand why so many guys (and Gals) don't count the eye guards on coues??? It is a score-able point.... I know a bunch of folks that call this a 4x4 and lots of others that will say... "No Way! That is a 3x3!" So.... any thoughts??? I have been on both sides of this debate and am really just bored.... so this is what I came up with to pass the time.....

I like the late, winter hunts because the deer like the sun when it is cold and they like the deep dark shade in the hotter hunts, IMO.... I also like only having to compete with a few hunters in the late hunt.... not that there are many early hunters that hunt the place that I like either, but I would take a Dec. tag over an early hunt anytime, with that said we have taken just as large of bucks early as late.
