Back country bivy Alaska mountain goat hunt. (Pic heavy)
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to 308Nut's topic in Other Big Game
Warmth came from the sleeping bag inside the bivy and dry is the whole point of a bivy. Bivys are made out of Gore-Tex or Pre-Vent or E-Vent materials. These are waterproof/breatheable materials. They are basically a weather barrier. Well now you know what I want for X-mas!!! -

Outstanding buck!! Congrats on a great hunt!! Sorry Jason... but I gotta say your low! I'm gunna say 106"-108" gross.

If you were smart you would dump that rough ridin' rig for a real game getter like this..... Easier to haul... cheaper to opperate.... smoother... more versitile.... and then you could afford a Hwy worthy runnabout rig!

What Scope and power do you like?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to tontotom's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I knew that was coming OK maybe you need to ad a Subaru into the mix Gino has more money than me so he does have better stuff ??? ... Hemi maybe! That one Huskemaw scope has now racked up like 14 kills in the last few years. More than paid for itself! ....And considering that they throw in the first custom turret when you buy the scope.... It is about the cheapest scope of its kind on the market considering the quality. The scope has a zero stop factory installed and the components are all basically the same as a Nightforce for a fraction of the cost! Not so much more money, Mikey.... Smarter Money! -
I think you just made this post to show off Amber again.....

Sorry about your truck! Life is short man..... enjoy each day, as we are all here for just a little while. Glad everyone made it out okay.... you all were very blessed that day.

Huskemaw Optics 5-20x50LR... all the way! They one of the most comprehensive outfits that I have seen and the scope is great and is very easy to use.... so nice to be able to know where you are aiming rather than guessing. -

Awesome Mike!! Just plain Awesome! Congrats! When you get down here in Dec. (or via pm) I'd really like to know more about those Bivi's you guys were using.... I gotta have one! -
Not to correct you Shorty... cuz you may be right! ...But he is Nut off of the old tree.... and I do mean he is a NUT! Gotta say to me there is nothing more fun than hunting with the women and the kids!! To have the opportnity to share just a little bit of what we, as guys, get to see on a weekly and monthly basis.... I would rather hunt for them than for myself.... the rewards and the smiles on their faces are just way better!

Terry Neese out in Round Valley, (928)978-2390, will also do you a great job... He has a first rate shop. You won't be disapointed with Terry or with Ron & Marianne Buehring by the airport... all first rate folks, and the only butchers I will use.
-
I say your last one is larger by a bit.... the g3's are what put him over the top.
-
Jason, If you are heading my way let me know.... I'd try to work a deal with ya.... it would get plenty of use around here. Oh... actually I gotta seal one of the Show Low Lake parking lots the end of next week....I'll be up there and staying Wed.- Fri.... ... might hook up with you then....

A Worthless Waste of Hunting Gear
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Keep in mind these are gifts from a very loving Wife who knows her Husband buys the stuff he wants/needs for hunting and trys to buy him things he would not buy for himself..... Primos Bloodlight..... WHY.... and Night Vision Monocular.... Why again.... God I lover her for tryin.... and for the record.... After 14 years of marriage that is the only flop gifts she has ever bought me that I can remember! -
My boss will not give me Friday off but may be up for a weekend glassing but would rather help in 22 That is Crap!

Just ran into TJ and Jack Shoe at the Wal-Mart..... actually..... TJ ran over my Wife in Wal-Mart!! She got between him and his basket of food.... whoo.... was that close! They were restocking camp.... and I almost didn't recognize TJ after a week in the woods! He was kinda Western lookin'! Best Of luck to those guys! Best of luck to my Buddies who have clients.... Best of luck to my Son, Colton, and my buddy, Jeremy, whose hunts start tommorrow as well. I am on the sidelines for this one.... Just got back from the Doc and it appears that H1N1 has me backed in a corner and pretty weak at the moment... Good Luck ALL!!!

Thanks, man. As a Dad that means alot.... I was really stoked that they closed the deal on a great buck that we knew was there! Colton wanted to ask you for your name so he could put a face to the kind words. Mike, Amber is on a Payson Engine Crew... but has has filled in on the Payson Hot Crew.... and she did well... she's tough.

My Little NM buck!
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
The size of the antlers is not always what dictates a Trophy Hunt.... Sounds to me like you brought home the Prize!! Congrats!! -
Right on Shorty! Great buck and a Great hunt! Congrats!!
-
32 or 33 for sure. Good deer everywhere u mentioned, but in those two units you kinda get the best of both..... more deer and less UDA's....IMO.
-
Outstanding!! Congrats to all involved!!

Interesting point of view, JMP. I have the 107 and have used it for over night outings of scouting and as my everyday pack for a coupe of seasons now. It is the perfect pack for what I do. I recently purcased the Blue Widow pack and the Super Duffle for my over night and (future) bivy style hunts as the 107 (alone) was not as large as I would have liked for the over night trips. All of these pack shrink down small enough that you can have a big pack with you and not feel like it is in the way. I pack all my boned out meat out in my j107 and it is about as good underweight (or better) than anyother internal framed hunting pack I have used.... but when I am just hunting or scouting it is compact which is also very important. J107 or bigger all the way!

Congrats! Sounds like a Blast!! I'd be interested in learing more about how you pack for a hunt like this... I've always wanted to do an AZ hunt that way but rarely find the time or the place where one can go that far and be any more productive than closer in... It is high on my list of things to do... sounds like a ton of fun!! Congrats, Again!
