New bow -Hoyt, mathews, or bowtech?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Buckhunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
In the short bows... I really like the Alphamax 32.... definatly a bow worth test driving.... -
Well I hung my two Mathews bows up for sale over at Chasin' a Dream Outfitters in Payson, and they are still for sale there... but I was also waiting for my rental house over in Pine to sell... and it closed escrow on Friday! Now, I was finally free to order my new bow!!! So Jeremy ordered me a Hoyt Maxxis 35... on Friday afternoon!!! When it arrives at his shop he will be putting custom Chasin' a Dream strings and cables on it (I already picked the colors) ... then he will mount my Axcel (Armortech-HD) sites as well as some of the fine Fuse accessories he has on the shelf and I should be ready to take someone's money at leagues starting next week!! Not to mention that there are some big bucks quivering at the thought of me in the woods with a brand new bow come August!! It sure is nice having a First Rate bow shop in the Rim Country!!! Guess I better get to fletching some arrows!! There will be pics soon!

I have changed bows every 3-5 years, for as long as I can remember... ... ... I shoot what is the best at the time and don't switch till I find something much better.... I had my Switchback since 2005... and have shot my Q2 XL since 2000... .... There is a difference between "new bow confidence" and a better product than what you had before.... and not every bow made can be shot as well by the same person. If that were the case then they would only make one bow and everyone would shoot it... I have had the pleasure of shooting with some of the best shooters from this state and learned early on about fads.... I shoot what works.... and love to stir a bit of dust and throw a little mud about the "Brands" and there are some brand I'd just as soon never shoot.... but I have shot many bows and can shoot just about any bow I shoot well... if I try hard enough..... one thing is certain not all equipment is created equal. -

New Bow Hoyt Carbon Matrix.....
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to SuperiorBowHunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Depends on what you like... it is light... and it is fast! I tried it side by side with the Maxxis 35 and chose the Maxxis... however ,I'd pobably choose the Matrix over the Maxxis 31... but that is just me. Go shoot them all... but get some weight on them don't shoot just the bare bow IMO.... Sorry to here you were robbed.... ... good luck with the new bow! -

Tyler, It is I that am sorry, but at 17 you don't have enough bows in your past or archery experience to have that kind of "two cents".... I have shot many bows... and now and again... a new one is the Right one... and if it fits you better than the last one... you know it.... instantly your groups tighten... It has nothing to do with how fast the bow is... it has to do with how it aims. Have not shot a bow as good as this bow since my Q2 XL was new.... I assure you that new equipent out performs old equipment just like new computers, new trucks, new quads, new technology is not a scam... it is sience... and science propelled us to where we are and to where we are going... I'm not saying that you are wrong all together... in your lil' pond that might be mostly true... however.... in the grand scheme of things.... for those of us that "Live It" not just "Play It"... it is not the case. There are many traditionalist out there that are Great shooters and they will not even look at the new stuff.... but any guy that shoots a 15 year old Martin and XX75's is not going to hold a candle to me or most of the guys/gals here shooting top shelf equipment at any distance out past 10 or 15 yards....Period! Fact not fiction... Im sorry i only have 8 years of experice that im one of the top youth shooters in the state, im sponsered, have traveled threw out the country shooting, I have shot tons of bows i work part time at a archery shop. Im sorry to say but im pretty sure i know wat i talk eabout i shoot a 04 mattews conquest apex to to place one or two in state for five years and just barely switched bows this year when got a better offer to shoot PSE. So i guess i dont know any thing i dont have any idea wat im talking about. sorry i opened my mouth. p.s. Archery is my life and future hopefully going to shoot in college and then go pro. Well best of luck to you... -

Swtchback is SOLD!! Still have the Q2XL for sale... this is IMO the better shooting of the 2 bows.... as it is longer axel to axel... I shot my Desert bighorn and half my archery coues bucks with this XL.... also shot very well in many 3D's back in the day with this bow.... this is the bow that I pulled my personal best longrange group at a 110 yds with.... a Smokin' Deal at $350.oo considering that it has over $250 worth of accessories on it!! It is still on the Rack at Chasin' a Dream... if anyone wants to test drive it.... She is a shooter!!

I am selling my Q2 XL (28 1/2" draw) and my Switchback (28 1/2" draw) Both have Mathews Fallaway rests, small doinker stabilizers, Mathews quiver brackets, and wrist slings, and strings in excellent condition. The Switchback comes with the Quiver and the Q2 XL comes witha Sonoran site. Both bows are sitting down at Chasin' a Dream Outfitters in Payson and can be looked at or shot there (at their indoor range) if anyone is interested. Both of these bows are trained killers and I would recomend them to anyone! Q2 XL is $350. Switchback is $500. Thanks for looking.

Been down to Jeremy's shop almost every other day, buying this... adding that... changing this.... each week this Hoyt Maxxis 35 becomes more and more perfect for me..... Last night I customized it with my own custom riser dampening system... added a couple ounces of weight but even my wife noticed that it aimed a touch better for me and it was even quiet'er! Just can't wait to shoot again in at Sunrise! It has been a good 8 or more years since I have gone up there.... I was shooting a long axel to axel bow then as well and shooting this good.... I am Stoked!!! On a side Note..... I drug my wife down to shoot Leagues at the shop the other night for her first time.... she had stage fright...HaHa! She struggled at first.... but as the night wore on... she came alive! Her last group with her new Hoyt Vixen was a 9,9,10,9,9... 46! She is now hooked and can't wait till the next league night in 2 weeks!! That new hoyt has improved her groups in a Huge way.... she went from and effective range of inside 30 yds.... to 40 yds in the first week of shooting this bow! I just can't wait for August!!!!! My wife now looks & finds me at Chasin' a Dream... almost everytime she is in town... ... she just walks in the door with a smirk on her face and says, " Alright... time to go.... we are gunna be late!" Way better than having to drag your husband out of the Bar, I reckon! -
