Sight, rest, release, and stabilizer, and quiver on a budget!
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to makaio333's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
In most cases you get what you pay for. But for a guy wanting to "get back into archery" I am sure that you find many upgrades even in the cheaper lines compared to what you might have used last time you were into archery. I noticed that Jeremy at Chasin' A Dream Outfitters tries to carry a some budget type items as well as the high end stuff for the very reason that some folks just want to get their feet wet. For example I wanted to put an Axcel site on my Wife’s new bow (like I have on mine) but he (and my wife) talked me into a probably the best "hunter class/budget" sight I have seen many of my buddies use it and my wife also loves it. I guess my point is... You can go to BP or SW, or Cabelas, or shop on line, but are not getting the knowledge and professional support that you do at a pro-shop. They can tell you what works based on your needs and skill level if you let them. In the end a good proshop wants your repeat business so they are more likely to work harder to find the right products for you, even if that means ordering in something else vs. selling you something off the shelf... MSRP is MSRP... you will not find much difference in prices anywhere you go, but the customer service is never the same as it will be in an owner/operator shop Like Chasin' A Dream Outfitters or any of the other Hoyt/Mathews proshops that I have been into. Sorry... got long winded. -
Awesome finds! Congrats on the other side of that set! How far was the white side from where you picked up the brown side? I once found a white side a mile away and 3 yrs later! Only reason I knew for sure was I had liked the big kicker and hung it on the wall in my house... I thought that was amazing luck! Congrats again and good luck on the browns. Here is a pic of my 3 yr set.

Sold!!! Second best day of a boat owner's life... is the day you sell it!

It is always kept with the tarp on it. It is a snap-on tarp and I have pulled with it on but usually tack it off when pulling it just to protect the cover. Yes... Trailer and motor are included, motor has one trip to the lake since the "break-in" tune up... that is how little use this craft has. Bateries are good I think, I have been keeping a solar tender on them and it seems to be working fine, and Prop is fine as well. It is stored north of Phoenix on the way to Roosevelt Lake, right at the Jake's Corner Store on Hwy 188.

5th Edition Bowhunting in Arizona Record Book
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Mark Sipe's topic in Hunting and Outdoors-related books
I'd just be happy if they'd send me the copy I paid for 2 years ago when I entered several animals... funny how back then, "I just beat the buzzer for my entries", and would get my book that year and be invited to the banquet... Yada, yada, yada... These will be the last animals I ever enter in that book and the last dealings with that organization... i have a list of BS stories I could vent about... but if anyone involved with prepaid orders reads this I'd like my copy...I paid for it. And I'll be happy to tell you whom I paid. Thanks! -
Cody, your Wildviews should ship from Chasin' A Dream Outfitters today, when the UPS truck shows.... And DevilHorn took the extra Bear box off my hands yesterday... so it is gone as well. Still have the 4 Moultrie D40's with boxes.

The use of CWD as reason for this ban is unsupported considering that every spring bow, water catchment, pool or pond of standing water, or ranch salt is a far greater danger to the pread of CWD than any of the proposed bait items. This is why we must all be educated about what they are feeding us... scare tactics only work on the un-educated... please do your home work and find reasons why you should not stand with you hunting brothers. Please.

Brothers seconed chances buck

Awesome buck!! Congrats!!! -
We deep pit our Bear meat... I built an "earth oven" out of cinder blocks and concrete. this is how I make bear meat the you can eat cold on a sandwich... or any other way you can think of. We build the fire the night before, which takes about 5-6 hours, a case (or so) of Barley pops, and a bunch of oak. I shut the fire down about 11pm-12am and let the coals rest... at 6am we drop a steel grate in over the coals (and add some wet mesquite wood to the coals), add the meat, and 6 hours later it is ready to pull out, slice and serve. How to Prep the meat: Trim all the "fat rind" off the outside of the bone in meat, make sure all hair and dirt is trimmed as well. pick you favorite maranade and inject some if you like... I have use rosemary garlic and liked it. Then dry rub lemon pepper and garlic salt on the outside. (Note: if meat has some blood shot on it make cuts in those areas and shove slices of onion or potatoes in to draw blood out, throw the onion & taters away after cooking they will be beet red). The hind hams should cooked individually, both front shoulders & backstraps can be done in one package...then be wrapped in parchment paper and 4 soaking wet burlap sacks (soaked over night with the mesquite wood ), wrap the burlap 'packages' in bailing wire with a loop on top so they are easy to put in and pull out of the very hot bed of coals.... The marbleing of the meat will keep it pleanty moist but the greasyness will be gone... it makes awesome roast when you pull it out... but you can allso chunk it up and make grean chile, or sandwhich meat or whatever out of it at this point. Most people you feed it to would never know thet were eating bear..... it is Awesome.

No Worries.... I will keep you first on my list, but Cody has said, "the Check is in the mail."

Was once told by an old timer that used to live in the woods for months at a time that he had several encounters with a black female Jag in a remote piece of Central Az about 20 years ago... who knows if he was just jawin', but he acted like it was true.
