Hoyt has something for everyone these days... We have all switched and the results have been Good!! Take a trip to Chasin' a Dream Outfitters in Payson and test drive a few models against the leading Mathews bows... or if in Tucson or Flag or Prescott they also have good Hoyt shops... But as a Bowt-anchor owner I'll bet you will be blown away by these better lines! Cheers!

Good for you... that rush is what keeps us all doing it... it is hard to let a buck like that walk! Cheers! -
That is a very case-by-case question... all hunters and all equipment is not created equal. I have made one shot kills on moving coues out to 45 yds... however my hunting partner who shoots 10x more arrows a year than I do will not take a moving shot period, even at 20 yds or less... I base my effective rang on many things, durring any given hunt... how much did I practice, how good is this bow vs. the last, are my sights good enough to allow me to aim small down range and do I have enough pins to shoot down range, what animal am I hunting and will the equipment(speed, broadhead, arrow, kinetic energy)deliver the penitration that is required to dispatch this animal. Reguardless of gear and tallent here are some rules that I live by as a starting MAX range in PERFECT conditions: Mulies.......90 yds or less Antelope....110 yds or less Coues........60 yds or less Elk..........60 yds or less Pigs.........60 yds or less Turkey.......30 yds or less But those are my MAX IF EVERYTHING is PERFECT... the practice, the hunting conditions, the gear, etc.

After 91 hours of sitting... and passing lesser bucks it happened... My archery coues hunting partner Jason Scarbrough (Jason Clay)has been sitting almost every day praying that the "Widowmaker" buck would cruise by in the day light... we have had few daytime pics of him over the last 2 Januarys but always hope that the Rutting will make those mature bucks slip up. Jason saw a "racked" buck rutting a doe up the hill in the AM and then had hot does in the bowl he was in all day long... by 3pm he was satarting to wonder "Where in the H-E-L-L are the big bucks!" He was pouting of course because he has 91 hours of waiting invested and countless days of scouting... He is the most Passionate and Deserving archery coues deer hunter I know and he was due!! Seconds later a doe came off the ridge to the north...and then it happened... here he came! A "No Brainer"! Bow in hand and shaking he has to wait for the buck to close a long 25 yds.... still shaking... Then finally, almost straight down at 22 yds the buck presents a broadside shot... he drew and time stood still... then the arrow was on its way! the buck wheeled and ran back the way he came at Mach 2 and as he topped the ridge he began to slow... then a sideways dance... and Crash! BBD! ...and it was him... it was the buck that he had obsessed over... Widowmaker!!!! Congrats my Brutha!! We doubled on Thumpers!!! -
Sorry for your luck... the hard effort paid off and then to miss is devistaing. I find it amazing how some folks think blind or stand hunting is not hunting at all... but I think it is one of the most mentaly taxing forms of hunting. You will have your day. Keep after it and aim low!!!

Awesome buck and story! Congrats to the hunter!

Us too... my wife and I have pig & turkey tags from the online spring draw... will try for the repeat!

Cool bucks... especially the last 3. Amazing that you guys have such tall grass there that you have to mow down you hunting locations! We don't have grass like that!
