Aren't you a bit young to be retired???? It is alright with us if you go to work so that there are still a couple of horns left this weekend.....
-
I bought my Switchback at Bear Mountain...they seem to have a pretty good staff and a lot of different bows to shoot....including those bows with the 4 letter bad word starting with "H" on them...
-
Dude.....nice 7x7 set!!!! Pics are hard to judge.... but I'd guess 350" maybe it is more? Congrats to you on a great day!!!
-
Here is the horn on the right side again. It is a 7 point and would go 360 + with a 35" spread. Someone has the other side we think.... and it is a perfect match 7 point.... we saw this bull in late Nov.
-
Here are some browns that my buddy Luke found in about a day and 2 hrs. of horn hunting. It is hard to tell from the pic but the two singles on the outsides are each 165+ inch sides...... about 360" class bulls.
-
Good job!! Too bad the base and eye guard got chewed. Great to have both sides though, very little deductions eh???
-
Good for you! Congrats. But....looks like a white horn...not a brownie. No biggie.....good find anyhow!

San Carlos Spring Bear?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to El Fuego's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
It is really not my recipe... it is my Bro-in-law's. You put several different meats in the pit.... bear, turkey, pork, elk, deer, or what ever.... but I think the fatty meats help the leaner meats to be more juicy and it kinda mixes the flavors. Sorry, I have never hunted the Res. but I have glassed bears up there from the unit 28 side.... -
Not a Prostaff-er...... I have a friend that is a PSE pro shooter and he struggles with the AR bows....(I woop him when we shoot ) they are very fast but they are not forgiving..... meaning you have to have flawless form to shoot well down range. One of my shooting Partners, shoots for Hoyt out of one of the Phx shops and he made me shoot several different Hoyt bows before I made my decision to buy the Switchback. Granted.... The AR's and the Hoyt's shoot FAST.... but speed is not that important to me.... I have shot bows that wizzing the arrow out there at 300+ Ft per sec. and for target shooting that is GREAT. But in a hunting situation..... 280-288 ft per second seems to deliver a much more forgiving shot down range. You have to not only test bows for comfort, but also for how accurate they are with your form. If you feel that a certain bow you have tested makes you an instantly better shot then you might have found the right bow...... meaning test each bow with as many arrows as you can. I have no idea what kind of hunting/shooting you intend to do with this bow, but keep this in mind....... if you can't consistantly hit a 1" dot on a target at 20 yds......... you won't hit a paper plate size target at 80-90 yds...... Good luck, again.

San Carlos Spring Bear?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to El Fuego's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Hey, does anyone want to donate a Hind Quarter of their spring bear to me for a house warming party I am throwing???? I am gonna build a Pit at my new house and I think Bear meat makes a great addition to the party. Thanks. -
What the #*@% does that mean??? I only speak a de English.....

There are some really great bows on the market now..... I have owned and shot High Country, Martin, and Mathews bows. I am a Mathews guy all the way..... The Switchback is the best bow that I have Ever shot. It is wickedly true and forgiving as far down range as you can shoot...70,80,90,...110+ yds if you dare. I bought my Switchback as a back up to my old faithfull Q2 XL last spring and it quickly became my #1 bow. I shot several Hoyt bows and had a real dislike for the "hand shock" they deliver.... I also shot a few other brands and still felt that the Switchback had it all. If budget is an issue...... Bow Tech is in my opinion one of the best and most under rated bows on the market today. The BT line has a bow for everyone at a price that is a little less painful than a Mathews... Good luck....

Thanks everyone.... I will keep you all posted if it turns up.

Who Needs Mexico???
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
This top left rack is the one that my buddy lost yesterday....... -
I had a few of my hunting buddies over to help work on my new house this weekend..... then we BBQ'ed and and "fondled" our horns from this past season... As we had them all piled on the bed of the pickup it dawned on us that AZ "ain't so bad". In the pic are: a 111" typical gross, an 84" typical gross, a 107" non-typical gross, a 106 typical gross, and a set of sheds (one side is kinda chewed) that could gross about 128"+ with a 12" spread! All from central AZ. I would LOVE to go hunt in Mexico.....but until I can, I will make the best of what we have right here. We may not have as many big bucks as Mexico , but AZ does have some Great coues deer and Great coues deer hunting!
-
I almost forgot to mention that there is a Pic of those horns in my post, "Who Needs Mexico??". It is the set sitting in the back left corner of the picture. It has very long main beams out infront of the G-3's and that is hard to see in the pic.

We picked up six Brownies on Friday.... 2 match sets.... 2 singles. The one single, is one side to a 360+, 7x7 and we are pretty sure some one eles found the other side. .... Had fun though....

G&F Deer survey coming out soon
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to ThomC's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Does anyone know what aprox. date they will release the '06 hunting Regs??? And are they going to have the application dead line in June? At one of the G&F meetings I went to, they were talking about going to a "split" dead line.... an earlier one for elk and antelope....and a later one for the rest of the hunts. It did not make much sense to me...... and I didn't understand if they were going to make those changes or not?? IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!!!! -

Half the reason for having the "one per Calendar year" rule is that it gives us the choice. To harvest or not to harvest. Just cuz you hunt in Jan. doesn't mean that you have to shoot one.... We each pass up about 10-20 bucks in December & January with a bow. If we see a shooter we take him. If you can kill a great big SOB with a bow in Jan. who cares if you have to sit the whole rest of the year out??? I think that if everyone (except juniors) was focused on only taking mature bucks in all seasons the success rate would already be down. Then they would not have to take good tags away and put more hunters into the woods at crappy times of the year. But you are right ....... it is all about the money. They have to keep gas in those G&F trucks and you know that can't be cheap! -
Unless they close the forests early, all the easy spots will have been picked over pretty well by June.... I don't know 27 that well but if you send me a PM I will tell you my $.02 worth of info. I would like to personally Thank You and all the men & women over there with you. We owe you all a debt that we can never repay, but by telling you "Thanks" and letting you know that we Are thinking of you here at home. Thanks.

Are we going to do this? Or are we just gonna play for braggin' rights???
