Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Azlongears's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
I don't know.... .... does seem kinda strange that those words were chosen on your application..... ... I would almost think that, the computer was trying to tell you some thing..... .....or something. JK........ Good luck on your apps. -

Pic of my mutt
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to 25-06's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Alright.... I'll will make a spectacle of my old guy..... Gunner is a 13yrs old GSP. I have owned him since he was 8 weeks old, but he spent most of his life on the trial circuits with my Dad. He has always been too big of a runner to hunt over, he is from excellent trial stock from Texas. He got to come home for good a few years ago..... and to a life of leisure.....aaah, retirement has been good to him. However, he has always had this thing that sets him apart from any other dog you have ever seen...... BALLS......like a BULL!! People laugh and point as they walk past my house..... People who come to my house for the first time all eventually notice.... and comment...for 30 minutes! He is a true conversational piece. People ask why don't you cut them off!!! And I say.... "Cut them off?!!!? If you had a set like that would you want me to 'cut them off'??" As an old man it is the only thing of pride he has left..... his physical appearance has fadded a bit, his once blinding speed is now shadow of what it once was.... all he has left is his charming personallity and that big ol' sack of marbles! Without further interruption....... My old Gunner Dog!!! -
Ok.... I sorry..... I just couldn't help myself....you left it sooooo wide open... And as far as work... I am trying.... it is Monday and I am having a hard time getting on task....

R U going??? You have to be going if you donated...... right? Oh...... and Troy.... Quit with your bitter self!! I offered to trade you my next prize for that Antelope bookend that you won..... you turned me down....and it cost you that 30-06 I had for sale! Bitter, I say! I am really lucky at banquets if anyone is looking for a date to the ADA banquet!

No brown bone yesterday..... ..... Some lazy SOB was riding his Quad all over the open ridges where I found my "free-bees"! And he even walked a loop over by where I found my other Brownie with the Crown Points.... ... don't know if he found anything, but all me and my buddy Jeremy found was a hard white set, a chalk set, two single chalks, and a coues shed that was chewed.... Nothing worthy of pics this week..... Hey Mike, I think the Bears are coming out...... we might have found some fresh looking bear sign.... not for sure, hard to tell with how wet everything was...... oh, and I am trying to talk Jeremy out of a spot that he found a bunch of fresh sign in 22 for you..... not sure how you would hunt it.... really thick..... maybe calling from a treestand...... still working on it for you though....

Can You use a Hand Gun
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to blaserman's topic in Handgun Hunting for Coues Deer
I only point this out, because of all the crap I got for saying that I can shoot my bow well out to 100-110 yds...... but, 5-600 yds is a Long Frickin' way out there for a handgun.... I mean I don't doubt that the gun is able to shoot that far, but with a short barrel and human error, combined with hunting conditions.... .... That is a Long Frickin' way to shoot a handgun..... at a 90 lb animal. Good luck with you gun. -
If there is a spot in 6A to look...... where you took that pick would not be a bad spot.... .... And hey even a blind squirrel finds an accorn every now and again..... Besides you have got to know that there are 400" bulls behind every bush out there in the woods, right??
-
That is Sweet, my friend!!!!! Is that this years??
-
I agree. The Pronghorn's are a great boot for hunting in AZ. I recommend the Lowa boots for sheep hunting of the North Country, however.

Indeed the early rifle tag is a top notch tag, but a 400 class no less is very very tough standards! Especially on a drought year! Drought Year???? Isn't that a bit dramatic..... First off, they say that the second year after a wet (or normal) year is better than the first..... that would be this growing season....... Second, we get got some decent moisture and are now in the process of getting more. The bulls are very fat and healthy..... and green-ups are showing up all over the place. This is going to be a good year for the bulls as long as we don't dry up and blow away between now and August..... However, as far as I know 400 inchers are hiding behind every tree in the woods, with as many guys like to drop that # when talkin' about bulls they have seen.... There is a formula I think that we can use to defuse the the over whelming sightings of 400" bulls........................................................................... .......................................................................... The "perceived" score of the bull.... in this case, 400" divided by 2, then subtract 50, and multiply by 2.45 and you are probably closer to what the bull Really Scores!!!!

Not even close to that unit.... Sorry..... If I see anything fresh I will let you know just the same. Good luck when you go out!
-
Me too...... Gunna try to go pick up those other sides from last week. Hope I get lucky again!
-

Nice set. Congrats to your boy.

Unit 22 in Dec. is going to be a Circus!!!! 620 hunters in 2 weeks!! The AZG & F is a bunch of Frickin' Morons!!! They have taken tag allotment out of the hands of the unit WM's and focussed totally on "opportunity"...... Hope you all have good hunts.... ...but I fear that if you don't shoot a bull at day light opening morning (Nov.30th), it is going to get real tough real fast! The first 300 hunters are going to run every elk out of the country and the second hunt will be a rag horn hunt! I am not down talking the hunt.... just the AZGF Board... They are screwing us all with the whole "opportunity" concept!! Thanks for letting me vent!

Nov. Archery Bull unit 23!!!! My second choice.......
-
You have a hard enough time finding brown bone when it is attached to an 800 lb animal that you are hunting.... .... much less laying on the ground all by itself! You don't scare me..... other wise you would climb behind the wheel of your ranger and pick up all these horns!! Gotcha!
-
Thunderheads are always a great choice. However, I do favor the cut on impact heads for light draw weights..... esp. the NAP products like the Razorback. Good luck.

It snowed on the mountain this evening nasty driving conditions on my way home...
