Got these pics off of my trail cam this weekend. They were all taken on different days but seem to support a thought that they are starting to "tune up" their pipes..... I Know we all love the sounds of the elk rut!

Get Rid of Special Permits?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Outdoor Writer's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Since when is life fair???? BTW.... Average Joes do win the Super Raffle. I am all for raising additional funds for wildlife!! And all the ideas posted on this thread are great money makers..... but why find ways to replace the funds we already have. I think we can all agree that all costs are up in the world we live in... including the cost of saving and maintaining wildlife and thier habitat. These Programs are good.... If you all want to fix on something..... work on how to fix people..... not the program. CnS -

PM good ole C/S He might. I ain't scared!!! Mine aren't as purdy as those Stainless ones, but they are well built! I'll work something out with you if you want some. -
Thanks, I'm pretty proud of him. Yea I got lucky and drew an October whitetail tag. Not my first choice, but very happy to have it anyway. Gonna try to hunt the big non-typical that was with my archery buck back in Dec. Did you draw a tag or sticking to archery this year? All the bucks in the picture are unit 22 bucks Yup.... I drew an Oct. tag too... but not in the same unit as you. It was my first choice. My wife drew a good Mulie tag so that will be first order of business in Oct. Good luck on your deer hunt.... we want more pics of a Big buck out of you this year!!!

monstercoues....... I respect your point, but I think you are missing a couple of points that make ALL the difference in this case. I do know a little bit about the units you posted above and I assure you that Most of the archery harvests in those units are in habitat areas where there is Very little rifle hunting preasure. Being that Coues deer have a very limited range/territory it would be safe to assume that the archery harvests do very little to the portion of the deer herd that is rifle hunted. Example: If I hunt those units with a bow, I never hunt very close to the places I would rifle hunt.... the diverse terrain makes it very hard to hunt parts of these units successfully with a bow and likewise other places nearly impossible to hunt with a rifle. Furthermore, I do also believe that the data being presented is flawed do to incomplete reporting. The AZGF has also stated that in order to have more hunter opportunity they abolished most of the Dec. whitetail permits in these units and dropped them into a low success Oct. hunt. It theory that has limited the numbers harvested..... and yet rather than using a projected harvest objective, to help promote hunter opportunity, they wish to add these units to the draw so that they can feel like they have issued more permits to more hunters... They are assuming that they can make more of the Diehard archery hunters choose to apply for archery hunts which the Game & Fish has deemed as high demand archery hunts. Thus leaving more rifle tags for Diehard rifle hunters. I don't believe this is about deer numbers at all.... I believe it is about the AZGF's mathematical agenda..... ... If AZGF's possition is about hunter opportunity then they need to be a bit more creative with their proposals. Cns

Yep, he is gonna be a pretty good buck. He looks like he has a good bit of growing left to do.

Looks Great, Gary! We all know Clay does good work and that rack makes the the taxi work look even better!!!! Congrats, again! Gary, did you draw a deer tag this year?
-
I, also, do not support this archery draw idea....... I realize that the North Rim units have always had a different management plan and maybe this is one of those times..... but a draw may or may not really the solution. I do really support the idea of having a harvest objective for archery deer, just like bear. This allows for hunter opportunity, while it does not stress the deer herd. Everyone wins.... AZGF still gets the money, we all still get to hunt where we want, at least part of the time. IMO..... either the AZGF wants hunter recruitment and hunter opportunity...... or they really want to slowly cut us off from hunting all together.... If they implement an archery draw instead of a harvest objective.... we will truley know their final objective. CnS

Get Rid of Special Permits?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Outdoor Writer's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I am ALL for the special permits. The groups that sell or raffle these permits attract a lot of support form people who might not otherwise spend their money on our wildlife or in our state. These permits bring a bunch of out-of-state money here.... all, or most of which will be gone if these tags are gone. If you all want to raise more money I am for that too. But, one incident does NOT constitute a need for a sollution.... I am disapointed that we are still talking about this and still beating a dead dog.... Right, wrong, or indifferent..... this ONE incident does not make the whole concept bad!!! We could find our entire hunting sport in jeopardy if the anti's could use one hunting accident, or one game violation, or hunter argument against us all to change laws...... Lets get back to SUPPORTING OUR SPORT instead of proving amunition..... the rest of this will be settled by the laws that we already have in place. Done deal. CnS -
Spending time in a tree stand ?
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Big Browns's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I have always read small paper back books.... and have never gotten caught by a deer.... read one page then pause to scan around you.....then repeat. It helps me to sit still. I agree with the others.... leave the high tech crap at home. My buddy that hunts with me has taken 3 big coues bucks and he chews and spits on the ground. We all pee in the bottle though.... most of the time. Funny note: I shot a 94" gross buck one time with my bow just about 10 minutes after I had to climb to the ground and back because I dropped my book! That buck came through the brush soo quiet! He was alert and ended up jumping the string a bit..... but, I think he heard me and came to investigate.... because I had seen him rutting does near by about an hour or two earlier. Who knows..... Ya just never know what might happen out there... -

Hmmm... ... Looks like you upgraded my design... ... Looks great! I would stiffen the backer plate and and then if you use lag bolts from the inside, plus the locks and a cable.... ... I don't think that anyone will be able to do much to them then. I carry a cordless drill and a cordless impact to the field with me to install mine. Once you have two 3" lags into the tree from the inside, (using 1/2" washers on the back side so shim your angle right) someone will need a bag of tools or a sledge hammer to mees with your camera. Good luck! CnS -
Looks like a good bear to me..... his head looks small compared to his body..... that is a good sign of a big bear. Go smoke him up!!!

I can't believe that guy would go see those heathens!!! BTW.... Please don't take offense to their name.... it is after all just a name.....

I was in BPS for primers the other day after I found out that SW was out of the 215 rifle primers I needed.... They have the WORST reloading selection in the entire Valley. I want to try their restaurant and I like their mounts better than Cabelas. Also, bought a Lead Sled shooting vice at SW the other day and when I showed up at BPS.... it was $20 cheaper at BPS!!!! leason learned.... shop before you buy.... they all have lower prices than the other stores on some stuff....

If you mean a treo cell phone, yes it will. However, what I have learned is that your equipment (Camera, phone, etc.) has to be able to handle that much memory. This card will hold about a 1000-1200 high res. pics..... I mean like pics that are about 2 MB each...... and probably 4000 lower res pics.... Hope it will work for you or some one else out there.... cuz I am too low tech for a card this big...

I seriously did Hyjack GH's computer, that he left on and unattended ,when I stopped by yesterday.... And I made that crap up and signed ol' Dirk D to it... All BS aside..... You guys really should buy this Generator! It is a Beasts and runs like a top. If I didn't already have 2 big generators of my own I would buy it myself! Git on it!! CnS
