Great advice, Manny. I agree 100% I used my 10x42's on a tripod for years before I bought my 15x56's.... and found lots of critters with then. Also might want to look at the Swaro 10x50's they are the best all in one bino that I have seen yet.... supper bright, clear, and you can free hand or tripod.

BTW..... if things go well this fall..... Clay will be doing a large Mulie for my wife and a large Coues for me!!!

Clay at Mogollon Taxidermy does an exellent job! He has done all the elk, deer, and the lion in my house and they all great! Clay is awesome to work with, and he is an official B & C scorer which saves a trip to have your trophy scored. He has a first rate opperation and stands behind his work. His coues deer mounts are second to no one! The only other Exceptional taxidermist that I can recommend Chris Harlow in Tucson.... he does my sheep mounts and I have seen nothing but amazing mounts of every type of critter you could think of in his shop! His Sheep, Coues and Mulie mounts are all the best that money can buy.

Survey: Hunting Archery and Rifle Seasons
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
How will this emminent archery draw affect the hunt dates????? Will you put in for the Jan. archery hunt with the spring hunts..... and also be able to hunt August with the same tag?? The Dec. hunts are history so what is the next move.... Will they try to have spring and fall archery draws??? This thing could turn into a Real Mess..... Archery Draws are a bad idea. Sorry, Tony...... A Harvest Objective still promotes opportunity, while limiting "over harvest with a bow" of any one unit. It works with bear.... there was a ton of hunters in the units and the hunt is over for most of the early seasons.... but the OPPORTUNITY was there for EVERYONE to get out and hunt..... It is a solid method of management IMO. -
Bah HaHaHaHa..... That would be a good game!!!!

My turn
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to thunderbolt's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
That sucks!! You guys have got to start locking up your cams.... can't trust people these days. I also like the double cam Idea.....set one way high so that no one can reach it or way low and cover it. Seems like a waste but might help. -
Shooting at an incline or decline - Bullet trajectory
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to crotalus's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I think it is much different with a rifle than a bow. In archery you can use the rule of thumb....90%,70%,50%.... It goes something like this: 30 deg. angle x 90%=shot distance, 45 deg. angle x 70%=shot distance, 60 deg. angle x 50%=shot distance. It does work. I don't think that will work with a gun..... so buy a range finder with a tilt compensator. -
Still looking for an offer...... I can't use the dang thing..... so I'd like to find some one who can. Thanks.

I got this 4 gig card for my new cam and it is to big to work in it! What is worse, is that the Idoit that sold me the cam (which I love!) sold me the card, too. Anyhow, I'd like 2, one gig cards in trade.... or make me an offer..... Thanks, CnS

Hard horned and velvet bulls!
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Lance's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
He was dang near that big last year.... I found the pics. Hunt'n coues was as close as 20-25 yds to this bull last year and couldn't close it.... It wasn't really his fault.... he was stalking a bigger bull and this one feed past him in a little draw.... after that he couldn't get close enough to get an arrow in him. I'm kinda glad considering how good he looks this year! -
expandables with light weight
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to 300 wsm's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I believe in expandables, but that story makes me wonder what the heck you guys are drinking up there on the Rim. Bob Bob..... ..... are you saying I'm crazy??? Well I am.....!! But that is a no BS story I swear.... I would not have believed it had I not seen it. I was weird, but the more I thought about the physics of the broadhead opening the more it made sense. You'll just have to trust me on this one! CnS -
Survey: Hunting Archery and Rifle Seasons
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
That 20% harvest deal is going to be the end of the OTC permits.... they (Units) will fall like dominos now... as more people will hunt other units and have more success. I still believe a harvest objective is the best of both worlds..... hunter opportunity and herd management..... done so very simply. AZGF is not basing these decisions on good info or stats.... what a shame to lose such a wonderful hunting opportunity. -
Congrats!!! That is a Helluva first coues deer!!!

Hard horned and velvet bulls!
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to Lance's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Ya, know..... I might be mistaken but I think I saw pics of that bull last year..... the new pic triggered a memory...... He looks like a bull that Hunt'n coues hunted last year..... and I think Grong has the pics.... ... I dun know... but he is a cool bull and I do now think you are right on your score Lance.... Thanks for sharing guys. -

Happy B-Day, Ya old Fart!!!!! See ya this weekend! -
If you can get away from the roads.....on foot.... you will find less hunters and more deer, in that country. That is a great tag! Congrats to your son and good luck!!

expandables with light weight
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to 300 wsm's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Just to be the Devil's Advocate here Matty... .... I have seen first hand that expandables can be less likely to deflect on an odd angle. When an expandable blade makes contact at, or before tip impact.... it can literally pull the arrow into the cavity. Example: I was antelope hunting with a friend, we were stalking a buck and came out of a wash 56 yards from him. My buddy heard me say fifty yards... ... His impact was soo low that a fixed blade head have sliced through the briscut... and probably not killed the goat..... however.... the expandable head opened and sucked the arrow up... I would not have believed, had I not see with my own eyes that the exit wound was a full 3"- 4" higher than the entrance wound.... .... laugh... call BS... whatever... but I believe in expandable heads and think that their effectiveness is very predictable. They are NOT for every hunting application..... but a very effective tool. Your pig would have died just as well with a good expandable head.
