Opinion on unit 23 South for elk

Better pack you lunch, dude..... There are way easier units to kill a big bull in! Why waist bonus points on 23S or 22S, when units 8 and 9 have WAY better bulls!!!

    Tag Soup!

Hey Josh, Jason was not sure which buck you were talking about, his archery buck or Boss Hog...... but he just got his archery buck home from Clay and wouldn't you know it he is hanging it at my house for a week or so!!! Anyhow, He asked me to post some pics of our two big archery bucks together in case that it is the one you were referring to. If you were talking about his other buck he said that he will post some pics of that mount next time he has a digital camera at the house. Hey Casey, Jason says he is pretty sure he is Still eating back straps off his 110"+ Archery buck...... no hair, no antler or bone, and no lead in the Meat!!!! (He made me write that....) January 06 and January 07 were very good to us! Tag Soup may be a common meal for us trying to beat these two bucks with our bows!!!

Were you able to get all the pieces of antler out of it before you ate it? Bah HaHaHahaHaHaHahaha!!!! Yeah.... You must be talking about the backstraps off your Daddy's buck, Casey...... Coues are so small bodied that by the time you got done blasting away at yours there probably wasn't much left.... That that hair and bone, don't taste much better that "Tag Soup"!!!!

    Hunting Help

Welcome to Coues hunting and CW.com..... You are in for a culture shock!!! I don't know anything about your unit down there, so the best advice I can give you is this: I happen to know that there is a really nice AZGF Wildlife Manager that lives right in Hereford.... I'm guessin' that town ain't very big.... find him or call him on the phone and pick his brain a bit.... You aren't gunna get any honey holes, but atleast you might come away with a starting point. Hard Decision???

SWARO's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to find the critters before the spotting scope does you any good! BTW...... If you have not already done so, check out the Swaro 10x50's.... they are the best all around bino that I have found. Good Luck. CnS

    New to Forum

I am in a stand. Its load up there and i figure this is the only way to do it. I have tried ground blinds but i like it better up high. Would you take the one in the pic as your first one? He just seems kind of young, 2 1/2 or so. I am out of meat and the year is almost over, but i no how that story goes, during the last week he wont be there???? That could be a 1 1/2 year old deer with great genetics..... you are in 23..... Heck yes, you should shoot him!!! How do you know you won't blow it when a Monster comes in if you haven't killed one yet??? It truly surprises me how many people "pass up" animals larger than what they have already ground checked. I have 5 Coues with a bow..... my first was a forky and my last was a 108 1/8" Gross non-typical. Each buck that I have taken was larger than the last, but now I find myself wondering if I can pass up a buck that is over 100".... .... That would be tough for me. You ought to be happy to have an opportunity at any Coues with your bow and earn your badges one buck at a time. IMO. Welcome aboard! CnS

    Shortest deer hunt ever

Nice buck..... 90"ish.........maybe, a bit less. Nice job! Casey, Nice to see you smiling again!!! BTW..... I noticed tha deer field photos are much more "complete" when you do the finding, and not the shooting. CnS

    Bighorn Sheep

Hard to tell from the pics but that looks to be a young ram and if so.... he has a ton of potential if he lives atleast 3-4 more years. Nice pics. Thanks for sharing! CnS

Dilemma, how would you deal with this??

If it is truely a safty issue for your kids then all bets are off..... you can't take that kind of chance. However, if you can keep your kids safe and have a possitive impact on your buddies kids at the same time...... it would be a great service to the future generation of hunters. Maybe just be straight up and say, "Fine, but if that is what you want, then we are doing it my way." Be very "My way or the Highway" and if he balks then you have a way out...... just a thought..... Best of luck with that one!! CnS

You are in Good, but tough country and you will have some good help. You might just get it done. BTW...... if you do (gitt'er done) you better have a wad of $100's in your pocket to tip all them guys out! We'll be going out, too..... hope we have luck as well. A buddy of mine has not filled his tag. So naturally I thought I might "tag along" on a fine Frozen morning such as this. Hope to find a Jiga-normous Monster of our own. CnS
