    Shed Dogs.

I think that timing is everything..... I got her out when she was too young to run big..... this aloud me to praise her as soon as her nose hit bone. She is a boot licker, now.... someday I might try her on the mearns that I have found.

    Shed Dogs.

Don't tell Shiela.... but I'm pretty sure she does not know that she is a bird dog.... Gotta keep it simple.... is my advice. I got white horns all over my yard and she plays with them... drags them around.... i am constanly putting them back where they cam from.... Started her like this at 11 weeks.... This was her first legit find, 2 weeks ago.

    Monster Archery Buck *UPDATED*

Gino, You sure you got permission to say that???!! Amanda Oh dang, Busted!!!! But of course I have permission!!! Jeremy probably would have posted the score sheet, but some Hater would have said something anti-score related, and I really think he is not interested in having to defend the decision to have this buck scored, re-scored, or placed at the top of Books (where it belongs)... So we will all have to wait to read it in one of our favorite hunting Mags..... I will say this.... the final SCI score, the B&C gross, and the P&Y gross are all VERY close... It just blows me away that it made the B&C All Time record book as a bow harvest..... that is Wicked cool!!!! Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams, Jeremy Ulmer...... I'm gunnin' for you now my friend!!!! CnS

    Monster Archery Buck *UPDATED*

Whoooo Hooooo!! Congrats Jeremy!!!! The "pending" ranking is #2 P&Y Non-Typical Coues!!!!!! However, you did badly de-throne my buck as the largest n/t of this recording period! Guess I'd rather get whooped by a buddy than a stranger.... Way to go my friend! Guess we be going to Denver and Jason says he wants to go also!

    Question for yall.

+1 Lark. The solid copper is great on Coues and is ok on elk "if" you hit the solid part of the shoulder or center punch heart, liver, or lung.... otherwise, even a 4" miss (on an elk) or just "clipping" an organ can result in a lot-a lookin'. I have seen it, too. cc3...... My pup (Shiela) is almost 5 months.... She is really coming along nicely!

  11. Coues 'n' Sheep

    Question for yall.

C'mon......don't start that again. (just pretend you didn't read this reply Gino) It's is okay Jimbo..... Gamehauler already told me that you can't fix stupid..... ......Or maybe it was you can't teach an old dog new tricks.... .... Or maybe it was if you shoot and something dies (without loosing a horn) it works..... I just don't know!!! : I am sorry G/H.... I guess you are going to have to help me remember what you were trying to tell/teach me...... Hey Casey.... how many elk has your gun killed with an Accubond or a TSX???? Just checking.... For all who read this and wonder ...... Casey and I beat each other to death on this before..... I happen to love Barnes bullets, and others for certain things and not for others.... But I also have found a target/hunting bullet (Berger) that I like very much for other things..... There are many bullets out there, each one has a Perfect use and we all have to figure out what works best for us in our hunting style and hunting goals....

    Question for yall.

Gotta love a guy that has the Beans & Franks to make a judgement call and Act upon it!!!! Good luck with that Custom!!!! May I recomend the Berger 168 gr. VLD???? I do like that bullet for elk!!! Oh... and good..... luck..... Looks like the Bear is out of hibernation and spittin' .270's......again.
  17. Coues 'n' Sheep

    Question for yall.

Well im gettin better input that i guessed. I understand the ballistic similarities, only think i was considering is the actual delivery of KE, Rather than just the fact of putting the hole where i want it. as we all know it can get windy in that country to so thats another issue. Heck depending on the end of my scouting i may end up takin the bowtech.... depends how confident i am in gettin in on em. Then again with most of that country, even after the shot, visiblilty is pretty good compared to typical elk country for the most part and would probably see the elk go down if it did cover a bit of ground after the shot. Then again i always wanted a nice 300 winny.... RUM, RUM, RUM,RUM!!!!!!!
  18. Coues 'n' Sheep

    Question for yall.

Thanks, i know. The best part is only dealin with 9 other tags. i spend most of my bear time in there and the bulls if ya get away are amazing! i can see the need for the 300 thats why i brought it up, gettin close has rarely been my problem but im gonna run into the same problem as with coues, not so much the animal needin the long shot but the country. Glassin up a 350 plus 600yds away at almost sunset would kill me. Plan on gettin out every day off ive got maybe shed hunt the area a bit. im pretty sure where the other nine will hunt and im gonna be no where near there. but i am really thinkin about the 300 maybe ill just blow some money. Whoooo Hoooooo!!! Field Trip!!!!!
  19. Coues 'n' Sheep

    Question for yall.

I know that the .270 is plenty of gun for an elk hunt. However, in your unit (21) I would be ready, willing, AND ABLE to kill a bull at 400-500 yds. I would totally recomend a 300 Winny, RUM, Wby,...etc. Best of luck on a Fabulous tag!!!! CnS

    70 mph sheds....

Kevin, You will never find them driving down Sunset that fast.....

    Elk Loads for a 308

My first rifle was a .308 Savage. We used it on elk with factory loads for years. I only used 165 gr. factory ammo one time for elk and swore never again! I would stick with any 180 gr bullet in factory ammo from that gun. IMO However, I am not sure what kind of hunting you are going to be doing.... that might make the 168 gr. more attractive, too. Not much help... I guess, but my $.02, none the less.
  23. Coues 'n' Sheep

    300 wby

I'd spend the money on a Mark V if it was me... reguardless, you will love the 300 wby. We all do! Best of luck! CnS
