TJ, Anyone who spends as much time or MORE time (there are plent who spend more time) behind binos, will agree with my statement.... I simply would rather not waste my time.... That is not Spoiled..... Maybe set in my ways but not spoiled.... I busted my but to get these glasses for a reason.... they ARE that good. Do what you gotta do SkyHawk..... but set your standards high as you can and NEVER, ever be satisfied..... CnS

That you have one arm that is way stronger than the other??? You might be single cuz your the male version of what we refer to as Coyote Ugly.... or Beer Goggles Gorgeous.... or, that's the last time I'm drinkin' that much before I have a hottie hooked to my arm! ....Those things could keep keep a guy single, too..... Young'un!!!! Oh Yeah.... and Obviously 10 years less Wisdom.... Call me Ugly..... .... Jeeeessh.... Your so Fugly your Papa had to tie some Bluegill to your belt, just so that the neighborhood Kitty, Kitty Cats would follow you arround...... Regards, Dirk D.

Listen to DesertBull, go buy what you an afford now and go hunting. I'm willing to bet that most of these guys had many years of good times with a cheaper pair, except for maybe a few who had rich folks, but it is easy for them now to say save your money and buy the best. Yes, they are trying to help out from experience but when you ain't got that kind of money the cheaper binos will do just fine and it will let you appreciate the better ones when time comes. Good luck hunting and enjoy whatever you buy. One word of advise would be to treat your cheaper binos with great care like not laying them on the dash while drving or on the floor. Protect them from any hard knocks and they will do just fine for now. TJ Oh Yeah!!! I had a great time when I owned the Cheap Ones.... ... I just never found as many critters! Better optics will make you a better hunter, if you let them... I know that it helped me. Examples...... A custom carpenter is made better by his specialty tools..... just as a mechanic can be made better by his. I won't use cheap glass if it is free..... and you never get to sell your cheap glass for a fair price, no one wants it. I have never "lost" money when selling some of my Swaro equipment to upgrade to "the latest or greatest". And the good stuff has never let me down. Buy what you can afford if you need to buy now..... otherwise, save and play with the good stuff sooner! IMO. CnS

Um, Chrissy..... I'm pretty sure Dirk D. was not your partner on those pics... must have been an Impostor! BTW..... That first picture you posted is more like what I would have pictured ol' Casey lookin' like as a kid.... The kid in that pic has "size" to him.... ya know chubby.... I gotta a hunch that Jimbo was a scrawny lil' kid... I mean look at his legs. Oh, and also ol' GH is definatly to old and feeble to be the "Hairy Back Dude" I always pictured Casey's Dad to look just like that... So.... maybe you just got those pics mixed up when you posted them..... I'm thinkin' you were in the wrong house and going through the wrong underwear drawers when you found them thar pictures..... you Perv! Dirk D. -
Congrats!!! Way to go!!!

Spring Snow Melt and Global Warming
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Hey..... not sure if someone else posted this or not, but I just got it in an email and thought it might fuel someone's fire.... Breaking from Newsmax.com Scientist: Earth Cooling, Not Warming A San Francisco-based scientist says that current solar activity strongly indicates that the earth is on the verge of a new ice age. "Sorry to ruin the fun, but an ice age cometh," warns Phil Chapman writing in The Australian. Chapman is a geophysicist and astronautical engineer who was the first Australian to become a NASA astronaut. Story continues below . . . "The scariest photo I have seen . . . is at www.spaceweather.com, where you will find a real-time image of the sun from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory [sOHO], located in deep space at the equilibrium point between solar and terrestrial gravity," Chapman wrote, adding ominously that "what is scary about the picture is that there is only one tiny sunspot." "This is where SOHO comes in," he explained. "The sunspot number follows a cycle of somewhat variable length, averaging 11 years. The most recent minimum was in March last year. The new cycle, No. 24, was supposed to start soon after that, with a gradual build-up in sunspot numbers." That, he writes did not happen. "The first sunspot appeared in January this year and lasted only two days. A tiny spot appeared last Monday but vanished within 24 hours. Another little spot appeared this Monday. Pray that there will be many more, and soon." Why? According to Chapman "there is a close correlation between variations in the sunspot cycle and earth's climate. The previous time a cycle was delayed like this was in the Dalton Minimum, an especially cold period that lasted several decades from 1790. Northern winters became ferocious: in particular, the rout of Napoleon's Grand Army during the retreat from Moscow in 1812 was at least partly due to the lack of sunspots." Although the rapid temperature decline in 2007 coincided with the failure of cycle No. 24 to begin on schedule is not proof of a causal connection, Chapman warns that it is cause for concern. "Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming," he explains, "the average temperature on earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously. "All four agencies that track earth's temperature [the Hadley Climate Research Unit in Britain, the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Christy group at the University of Alabama, and Remote Sensing Systems Inc in California] report that it cooled by about 0.7 C in 2007." This, he says is "the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over." Moreover, he says, there is also plenty of anecdotal evidence that 2007 was exceptionally cold, noting that it snowed in Baghdad for the first time in centuries, the winter in China was simply terrible and the extent of Antarctic sea ice in the austral winter was the greatest on record since James Cook discovered the place in 1770. Chapman wrote that the global warming dogma should be put aside, "at least to begin contingency planning about what to do if we are moving into another little ice age, similar to the one that lasted from 1100 to 1850." How bad could a new little ice age be? "Much worse than the previous one and much more harmful than anything warming may do. There are many more people now, and we have become dependent on a few temperate agricultural areas, especially in the U.S. and Canada." Global warming, he added, "would increase agricultural output, but global cooling will decrease it. Millions will starve if we do nothing to prepare for it [such as planning changes in agriculture to compensate], and millions more will die from cold-related diseases." And grim as that outlook is, Chapman predicts that there is also another possibility, remote but much more serious — the Greenland and Antarctic ice cores and other evidence show that for the past several million years, severe glaciation has almost always afflicted our planet and under normal conditions, most of North America and Europe are buried under about 1.5 km of ice. This bitterly frigid climate is interrupted occasionally by brief warm interglacials, typically lasting less than 10,000 years. The present interglacial period we have enjoyed throughout recorded human history, called the Holocene, began 11,000 years ago, so an ice age is overdue. And glaciation can occur quickly: The required decline in global temperature is about 12 C and it can happen in 20 years. His conclusions: "The next descent into an ice age is inevitable but may not happen for another 1,000 years. On the other hand, it must be noted that the cooling in 2007 was even faster than in typical glacial transitions. If it continued for 20 years, the temperature would be 14 C cooler in 2027." By then, he writes, "most of the advanced nations would have ceased to exist, vanishing under the ice, and the rest of the world would be faced with a catastrophe beyond imagining." "All those urging action to curb global warming need to take off the blinders and give some thought to what we should do if we are facing global cooling instead," he writes. "It will be difficult for people to face the truth when their reputations, careers, government grants or hopes for social change depend on global warming, but the fate of civilisation may be at stake." -
Well.... hopped a plane Monday morning.... Ol' Huntn Coues dumped me off at the airport and I was on my way..... By 4:00 pm Texas time I was sitting in a ground blind! It was not long before these ladies passed by at 35 yds.... After they left i had another hen headed my way but she came up short when shee saw the first hens a 150 yards away. This little fellow was my next visiter.... He mad his way right up to my blind I even got out and messed with him a bit. That Jackie Bushman, feller is a goofball.... I could have caught this sucker with my bare hands!! These guys are by far my must have Texas game! I would have loved to brought one of these home and was within bow range with bow in hand but the ranch I was on does not allow their Blackbucks to be hunted.... but one of these days.... A young and immature blackbuck A almost fully mature black buck. (I had this on at 40 yds broadside at a waterhole!) Back to the hunt: My first full day of bird hunting sucked! WINDY and the birds were NOT responding to calls or coming to food sources! There was so much feed everywhere and the travel corridors were the only ticket..... I saw toms but nothing within bow range. The second full day started about the same..... Gail force winds! Saw two hens on the fenceline I was sitting. When the rest of the guys got picked up for the midday meal and a nap I opted move to a new spot and keep hunting...... and it paid off big!! At 12:20 pm this Longbeard comes down off the hill to my right and starts walking right down the old two-track in my direction! At 19 yds I let him have all he could take of my ACC tipped with a 100 gr. Spitfire! He has a 10 1/2" Beard!!!!!! I about did a backflip I was so happy!!! When everyone came back from the midday nap, we took my photos and I was off to a new blind on water. I got out of my blind to try and stalk the largest Gobbler I have EVER seen!!! This bird had to have no less than 13"-14" of beard!!!! He spied me standing stalk still looking over a burm at him and was GONE faster than you can whistle! I crawled back in the blind hoping some other birds might come to the water on the way to roost..... and they did. Oh did I mention that the wind is still blowing??? Cuz, I might have wanted to try and compensate for that wind when I shot at that Big Gobbler (bigger than mine by an inch or 2)..... as he stood facing me I managed to only cut a couple of feathers off of the downwind side of the bird and he was off to the races with his buddy! I was sick!! Later that evening I missed a gobbler on a spot and stalk, cuz I misjudged my yardage...... But, I had a Fantastic time..... I got the biggest Bearded Bird out of our group of five hunters and it was the only bird taken with a bow! I got to shoot at two other Dandy birds and stalk on a MONSTER!!! All in 2 1/2 days! What a blast!!! I hope I get to go back!! It was great to get Bloody! Thanks for reading. CnS

Great product! Excellent customer service! I recommend this scope at anyone that is looking to accurately and consistantly lengthen their effective hunting range up to 900-1000 yds. I have effectively reached my goals of being proficient out to 650+ yds.... that is plenty for me and I would not hesitate to shoot beyond that in Perfect Conditions. A+ for Huskamaw. CnS

You and those two lucky hunting partners of yours!!!! Good Luck!! We got Zilch, Zip, Nada!!!! -
Not to hyjack the thread... but Hurry up with the Pics, man!!!! Also, I learned a Fantastic turkey bird recipe while in Texas...... 1.....Filet the breast meat off of the bird 2.....Soak the breast meat in Salt water over night (optional) if at all bloody 3.....Slice the large "filets" across the grain into 1"x 2" strips. (Strips will be about 4"- 6" in length) 4.....Put the Strips of meat in a large zip-loc and add a marinade of your choosing (Grille Mate is what I used) 5.... Slice fresh Jalapeños length ways and remove all the seeds leaving 4 "peddles" 6.....1 lb of bacon.... Wrap the breast strips and the Jalapeño peddles (2-4 per) with two bacon strips (on the longer pieces 1 one the smaller) and fasten with toothpicks. 7......Flop them on the Grill (low heat) and turn them regularly (so they don't burn). Cook until the strips "firm-up" and the bacon is crispy. 8..... Serve with Ranch Beans or Pasta of your choosing and everyone at the table will rant about what a Bad A$$ cook you are!! Everyone over here thought I was body-snatched by a 5 Star Chef or something!!!! It was by far the best wild turkey meal I have eaten...... and no Jelly Stuff.... CnS

Its all about DEL TACO!!! I ahve only seen a few stickers and surprisingly they were all during the same weekend. One was a green Dodge flatbed and it had the sticker on the metal bar, I saw this rig during the first late season bull hunt in 22 north. The other was on the ride home and was on a red Jeep Cherokee driving southbound outside of Rye. Chrissy, It sounds like you saw Gino and Amanda with those vehicle descriptions? Del Taco sucks! TACO BELL all the way baby! I know it wasn't Amanda this was a candy apple red Jeep and I don't think it was Gino but its always possible. Hey Gino where were you opening day of the first late hunt in 22N? Not in that sorry unit! I was elk hunting, but in a better unit.... I think the truck you saw belongs to a friend of mine. COOSEFAN is a retard.... .... he thinks every Dodge flat bed in Gila County belongs to me... My old Dodge flat bed with the CW.com sticker is running around in Prescott.... so I am hidding now.... I'm gunna buy me a new truck right before hunting season so no one will recognize me! I don't think I've seen a red jeep.... I thought at one time I had seen a blue or grey Jeep Wrangler looking rig and also a smaller truck like a Ford Ranger that was a dark color like black.... small details... old minds.... just can't retain it all.... Oh, and you might catch me at Taco Smell... or Del Taco.... but I prefir Alfonso's! CnS

Well I gotta sell my Huntin' truck. I wouldn't be selling, but I found another one and my wife says I can't have 3 trucks... Anyhow, this is a '95 3/4 ton Diesel 4x4 Flatbed and gets about 18 mpg on the average. Two fourwheelers fit side-by-side on the bed or one Ranger/Rhino and the bed has air bags for the added load when you need them. I have 10" wooden side rails on the bed that are not shown and I am going to throw in two additional complete sets of wheels and tires. It has a below bed Gooseneck hitch, and is set up to bolt a Tuff box right to the bed with no additional work. I built the removable lumber rack to stow on the headache rack. Oh, and if you hold the stearing wheel loosely on certain dirt roads in certain units this truck will almost guide you to some REALLY good hunting spots!! Almost like it knows the way..... $7,500.00 takes it all. If you have any questions just post them here and I'll reply. Thanks, CnS

It is that time of year..... and the snakes are out!!! I was out in the woods a while back with my new pup (Sheila) when we came nose to nose with a large bull snake and she had NO fear. Snakes always creep me out, cuz I have had a few close calls. Knowing full well that Sheila will be going to the woods/lake/desert with me all the time I felt that I needed to get some "snake avoidance training" ASAP..... I am fortunate that my Dad is a professional bird dog trainner, so I knew who to call! ..... Mom!!! I made the long trip to Chino Valley today and am feeling alot more prepared for the summer months ahead and any snakes we may meet along the way. If you you love your dogs like I do find some one in your area who has a GOOD reputation with that sort of thing and get it done!!! FYI.... if not done right "snake avoidance" is a complete waste of time. Sheila's lesson: Bringing the snake to the field. Sheila waits for her turn to check out Mr. Rattles.... The walk..... Aw Dang! As soon as she smelt that sucker she ran right up there and put her nose on him!!! After a check.... and a double check, she got some love and a treat from Gram! And of course, Mom wanted to keep her ... But she says that to all the dogs.... My Dad has done this to every dog I have had in recent years and I can tell you it is cheap insurrance for you and your pet. I also had Sheila "mico-chipped" today.... I have put, too much love & work into her to lose her and not be able to get her back! I know..... not all dogs are out and about as much as she is, but any Arizona dog could benifit from the two simple things I had done for my dog today! Contact your local dog trainer to find a snake avoidance clinic near you and your vet can do the micro-chip... unless your Mom can do it for you.... CnS

Pinto?? You obviously don't watch CNN.... Maybe a Pinto body with a Shelby built inside of it by Mr. Shelby, himself! MaCain is the best of the the three.... I don't care for some of his views ( guns & immigration are just a few) and I am hoping he picks a strong running mate that has some business savvy. We need economic Strength and Confidence in the US right now. I also think that unless OPEC is gunna start financing our war, we need our troops at home to stop the econmic bleeding on our borders. (Or cause some bleeding on our borders.) I just can't figure out how any of our current "choices" for President can really make our country a better place right now.... but I do know that MaCain will do far less harm than those other two Bumbling Idiots.... Wild Turkeys in the Santa Ritas??
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to bmf1321's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Anyone know what the difference is between the Gould's and a Rio Grande Turkey??? They both have the really long legs like that. Having just hunted the Rio's for the first time I was amazed at how much taller and over larger they are compared to our birds here in Northern AZ. Hope those birds do well down there..... it would be cool to get to hunt them here in the States. I think there is currently, like one or just a few, Goulds permits available for the spring hunt..... I don't have the Spring Regs...... CnS -
