That will go away as soon as you load your gear.... and load it right of course. You could get your camp, boned out deer, cape, head, horns, and hunting gear in that pack, no problem... best as I can figure. That is what I want for X-mas.... if any of you were wondering what to get me.... CnS

Internal Packs are the only way to go....IMO. Using a Pack (or freighter) Frame is alright too, when just packing out meat and such..... but I still prefir the Internal Frame Packs even for just packing. I have used the largest of these packs: Wolf Pack, Crooked Horn, and Eberleestock. The Wolf Pack was the best, but the material in the straps dry-rotted very quickly, so I do not recomend them or use them any more. The big Crooked Horn is a Great hunting pack and still very comfortable.... It will carry/hold more than you probably will want to pack, but does not have enough room, IMO, to hunt and camp out of. The J107 that I have is perfect for the dayhunter and although I have not packed elk with it myself I think that it might be one of the best hunting packs out right now based on versitility. However, I have a friend who recently bought the Badlands 4500 and I want one!!! It is WAY too big for day hunting... but for the backpack in, hunter who plans camp out and hunt...... it has it all!! It is by far the most well thought out design for that type of hunting. Hope that helps.... CnS

My boy just got back from his 2 week stint fightin' fire on the border.... He was Amazed at how much trash there was.... even on top of some those remote mountains like, Miller Peak.... He said it is EVERYWHERE... high, low, and inbetween..... Tony mentioned in my thread about fires that he doubted that Illegals would start a fire on top of mountains... that they have no reason to climb up and then back down...... News Flash..... They Do go to the top of the mountains..... and the trash is there to prove it!! That part of our state is now a frickin' garbage dump!!!

Doug, My boy's 10x50 swaros are brighter in the middle of the day than my 10x42 or 15x56 swaros....... not to mention field of view and low light glassing.... That I why they are the best for the guy who will only spend money on one pair instead of 2, 3, or 4 pairs like the rest of us.... CnS

It is hard enough to learn one unit at a time and you can only hunt one unit at a time..... soooo.... Pick one, git out there, and Git after it! I, personally, think that a guy ought to not give up on a spot that he has hunted for years.... those birds are still there somewhere..... or were pushed somewhere not too far off.... CnS Well kinda sorta I was looking at areas I could scout for the before the season started I was looking at these units because they are close and 22 I will be hunting elk and 6a I might be hunting deer. All the yard birds in those units have moved on to greener pastures.... I'd stick with 27... or if you Really want to see Huge numbers of yard birds.... 12A has more than a guy can handle..... It is truely amazing up there! You can see a 100 birds a day just driving around!!

Was ya burn in the 30's also Mike, Are you slurring your typing, again??? I have owned a Rem. 700, 22-250 for a long time and love that gun!!! It has tipped over criters as big as, Speedgoats, and Texas Whitetails.... but it is very weak in the wind.... and has let me down in the canyons hunting coues. So now I pretty much use it as my truck gun, and for preditor calling. If you are looking for something below a .30 cal. I'd have to vote for the 257 Wby.... or the .270 (or .270 wsm)... also have you considered the .300 WSM?? Good Luck. CnS

I voted 10x50, the 15x56 or 15x60 have many, many uses as well. If I was to own ONLY one pair of Binos (instead of 3-4) .... that One pair would be 10x50's for me. Just my $.02!!

Lark, Your dead on, IMO. It separates and gives better opportunity to the Serious Bow Hunter. We, too, have talked about it for years in my close group of friends..... But I am not sure if, in the Big Picture, it is for the best. I, for once, am really on the fence here..... There are reasons that make it really good for the Only with a Bow hunter and also helps the gun only guys as well. I just can't help but wonder...... what is next... all archery deer and turkey hunts? They are increasing, and yet decreasing, opportunity...... all at the same time, depending on how you look at it. It is muddy water at very best...... IMO. CnS
