Casey, at this point you sound like you're arguing just for the sake of arguing? The Huskema scopes have cllicks in 1/3 MOA. I'm really not sure what you mean by "clicks in 25 yard increments"? I've never heard of a scope where a click equals 25 yards? What would you do for different ranges? Perhaps you are referring to the hash marks that indicate the different yardages? The number of clicks will vary between hash marks, it just depends on how far you are shooting. No body is slamming your system! This conversation is starting to remind me of the Berger Bullet discussion where you told us over and over again how bad of a hunting bullet they are and now as of a few days ago you tell us you are going to give them a try. It's OK if you like your system better then ours! Neither of us are after your approval, we are just shooting what works well for us. Amen!!!

Ron and Marianne Buehring are the only ones I use! (928)474-5544 I have been using them for many years and they Great people, but better call ahead.... they are usually very busy. Good luck on that hunt! -
NO SCOPE!!!!!! Real men don't use lever actions w/ scopes!!!! Ask the Rifle Man or the Duke!!!

No, I think he was saying that if your distance wasn't exactly on one of your crosshairs then you're still just guessing. Amen, Brutha! I do know how to "gap shoot" with a bow... I happen to do it on occasion..... I am NOT saying your method is not good.... I am just stating the fact that there is one less step for us..... just as Tim mentioned! Relax.... I don't think you are any different, any less, or whatever..... ..... Just pointing out why I like the system that I use. It makes me just a bit more confident than using a chart and/ or a gap..... I am not as tallented as some, so "simpler".... is better for me.... and Tim.... obviously! No worries... I will keep using this system until something better comes along....... and then I will jump ship and use thier product. I am not "shilling away" for Huskemaw.... just pointing out why it works for those of us who have tried it!!!

If I have to "feed" it I don't want it!!!!!

I think I am really Liking this Lady for the VP.... I have my issues with some of Macain's politics and she has all those issues covered. We need a grass roots American in the Whitehouse.... Be a great change! We had better hope that the rest of America sees whot we see..... I know we can't and our country can't handle 4-8 years of Obamma! -
Right on Dude!!! Congrats!!!

When I'm feeling like getting close I just pick up my bow. Hunting with a rifle isnt' about getting close. so what is hunting with a rifle about? seeing how far away you can get before you make a reckless or wounding shot? Lets not ASSume.... that you have to be at a range of 400-600 yards to make a reckless or wounding shot.... There are people... and we all know them.... that should not even carry a firearm or bow in the woods, much less shoot one at something at any distance over two paces!!! The difference here is not about the distance, it is about guys putting in the time to be proficient at 20yds.... or at 520 yds.... they all take practice.... lots of practice. Making educated and pracitced shots in the field creates success..... and increased odds. The debate here is between how to go about executing that perfect shot at 100 or 1000 yds..... with swift and correct mathematics. In Casey's set-up he has time to calm himself and determine a "firing solution".... in the case of Tim and myself, we simply dial the yardage that is laser etched into our turret and focus on the shot.... our only thought is...."hold..... squeeeeeze...."! No math, no guess, no hold-over, no chart...... just the shot. I love this system and would have it on any gun that I plan to hunt big game with..... whether I use it, or not. It is nice to know that if I Finally find that trophy of a lifetime in a place where closing the distance is not an option..... that I can with confidence and speed make an ethical and clean harvest. And I say Finally because ALL of my largest and best big game trophies have been harvested with a bow between 12 and 45 yards. I too, can get close, if I choose.... just depends on what, where, and how I am hunting.

John, I am thinking that sending a gun off just to have that work done is a bit excessive in the first place.... However, I can tell you that after I mounted my scope, developed a load and bullet that I was happy with, did the Data shooting & sent that off, got the Turret back, zeroed my rifle back at 200 with the new turret and field tested the turret... I had Three months wrapped up in all the cuz I had other stuff to do in life as well..... ..... I know how frustrating it can be when you are waiting for something to arrive in the mail.... I am sure your buddy needed that gun and it was durring thier busy season, too.... Yada, Yada,Yada..... and he was frickin' Pissed....like we all would be...... That does not change the fact that he can order a new turret any time with any type of ammo he wishes.... and all he has to do is send them the data! As far as reloading.... IMO.... If you plan to shoot longrange while in a hunting situation, then you better have custom ammo from somewhere. Sorry, your buddy had a bad go of it with Gun Werks.... I have a lot of faith in the scope though!

I am a Swaro fan Thru & Thru..... ... My other 300 Wby has a Swaro on it and it is a sub-450 yd. rifle... IMO. Each gun is different and delivers the same loads to a different PIO. My biggest problem with the TDS and programs they use is as Tim said.... That is just math... not real shooting data from your gun. Also, lefty, you mentioned that your last line is 785 yds....... how do hold over/under, if the buck/bull is say 705 or maybe 825??? You are right back to guessing. Now I know that there are many Way better hunters and shooters than me in this world, but you better be shooting the barrel out of your gun once a year if you plan to be that good at hold-overs. That is why the Huskemaw system is so comprehensive! I did all my test shooting in the early morning or late afternoon at a elevation that I considered to be average to where I normally hunt. Now I can dial a distance in and hand that gun to my wife, sister-in-law, buddy, any one of the kids and confidently tell them to hold dead on at ANY distance..... that is piece of mind....IMO. Both of Troy's girls had never shot my gun before they dumped thier bulls with one shot at 385 and 450 yards. Both girls hit the same elevation in the cavity.... and I made believers out of both of them.... and thier Daddy!! There are many good shooting systems out there, but this one works well for me and everyone that Iknow who has tried it. It is good quality, and cost effective, and very simple to use. Buy it I did!!!

Way to go, Troy!!!! Great first deer... and great coues buck! You are quite the hunter for your age!!! Mike and Mike were at my house the other night talking about you, and I guess I never realized just how young you are!! I love seeing young kids having success in the field!!! My boy had his first great year of bow hunting at age 12.... Coues, Piggy, and an Antelope.... and man how it changed him as a hunter.... success breeds confidence in the field! You are off to the races!!! Congrat Young Fella!!!! Keep after it!!!! Way to Gooo!!!!!!!!

Thats it...im buying a GUN!!!!
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to 11hunter11's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
That is what you get for going hunting while the rest of us were at work!!!!! Great story.... That would be an awesome memory.... even better if you could have tacked his pelt to the barn wall!!! Yeah, I just don't understand why they don't allow archery deer and archery lion to open on the same day, not to mention bear and lion on the same day.... not uncomon to call in a lion while calling bears. AZGF... not thinkin' about how to best keep lion numbers down and deer numbers up! -
Huskamaw Optics!!!!! Dispite the "Nay sayers".... those guys at BOTW are great to work with and they know what they are talking about! They send you a scope... you mount it.... you pick or determine your load.... you do the required shooting and send them the datathey request.... they send you the custom turret calibraited for that round of ammo for your gun.... all included in the price of the scope! You can call them at anytime with questions and Arron or one of the other guys are always ready to help, and if you decide to change ammo..... just do the requires shooting again.... send them the required data and they will send you another turret and as many turrets as you want for a reasonable $$$$ amount!! I Love this scope on my 300 Wby mag.... it makes it fun to shoot, and very precise. It is set up for the sub-1000 yard hunter.... not for a target/bench shooter like most of the other scopes out there. Oh, and they are.... or were still cheaper than all or most of the comparable scopes on the market. Great product.... they make it easy on the hunter with limited time, too! The glass is clear and bright, it comes factory equipt with a zero-stop, the side paralax is sooo precise at 400+ that you could actually use it as a range finder, and like I said the customer service has been great with those guys. Good Luck!

Members Slayin' bucks on opening day!!!!!
Coues 'n' Sheep posted a topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Well, I as very fortunate to get tape a Great buck for Bowhunter4life (mike) yesterday!!!! What a Deer Mike!!!! Congrats!! I also know that a friend of Mike's took a good buck as well....(post it up!!) And ol' Hunt'n coues (Troy) dropped the hammer on his second ever Coues Deer!! Considering that he had 5 rifle carp deer tags to fill at his house.... this was a great way to start the hunting season for him!!! ..... I'm gunna let the boys post their own pics and stories but since I know neither of them are at home, I atleast thought you all should know that there are some more bucks on the ground! -
Now, Bill...... There is no way you can compare Pig to Bear! Bear is one of the best meats there is (if prepared right)..... I have never had "bad" bear meat, but it has always been pitted. My Deep Pit Bear is party favorite at Thanksgiving! I intend to try a spring pig that way this year, if I draw a tag.... if I can't make pig taste good that way then it will be Denmark meats for sausage!

Heck, it almost as fun talking about the story the day before....as it was to read it!!!! I knew "about" what he was going to write and I still almost fell on the floor laughing!!!!!

Lets hear about your close calls
Coues 'n' Sheep replied to IHunt2live's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Friday was my Wife's first day ever archery deer hunting and sitting a ground blind.... She is a very confident and profitient rifle hunter with many critters under her belt. But she had no idea what a step she had taken picking up the stick and string for the first time just a month ago! About 8:45..... Two incredibly tall coues bucks come walking in to the dirt tank. The first to hit the waters edge is a Great buck that at first glance is easilly over 90" and the second a super tall fork with eyegards. (I had to look twice to make sure they were not mulies!) As the bigger buck dropped his head he was at 23-25 yds and my wife knew that.... as she drew her elbo was hitting my chair ...... I grabbed the chair to move it and the noise spooked the buck out to about 30-31 yds..... and the she did not account for how much he moved in her shot and missed low.... giving that buck an arrow "slap" to the bottom of his rib cage... After he ran out, the smaller buck came in and stood for ever at 15 yds but, we wnated to check the arrow for sign before we made any conclussions..... after the forky left and about 30 minutes of waiting, the examination of the arrow found it to be free of sign... a miss. Back into the blind and back to hunting.... 9:50 a 4-wheeler motors past.... At about 11:00 my wife starts getting restless... " nothing is coming in" and "she missed her one chance"... I tell her lets hold till noon and then go if she wants..... 11:30.... "Big Buck!" she whispers and The Fever was in her voice! The wide, heavy, mature buck walking straight at us drops his head to the water and she draws..... No shot.... "What do I do?" she says. "Well if you can thread it right between his shoulder blades..... but it is not a good shot..... it is up to you," I say. "Nope, I'm not comfortable with it," she grunts, "But I am getting tired of holding and am shaking real bad!" "Let down, can you let down?" I say...."Thuuu Wack!!!!!" The whole blind shakes! As she let down she hit the trigger sending the arrow off to the depths of the pond! Now she is a mess!! The buck is standing at 30yds wondering what the heck was that!!!! She nocks another arrow and I stop the buck at 40 and she sticks the arrow in the ground at his feet.... and he speeds away. Out the blind she goes.... Cussin' and a Swearin'..... " I suck at this!! I ain't doin' this any more!!! That was Pathetic, I Suck!!!! I can't believe that I just blew it on another Big A$$ Buck!!! That is Two.... I blew it on Two!!!!" ....... so this goes on for a while..... I of course, am just calmly collecting my things saying, "It is alright Honey".... and smiling.... Cuz in my opinion.... if you have never had a "Melt Down" while bow hunting you haven't hunted very much..... So we headed for the Ranger....... My buddy, Troy, was contacted by phone and he came up from his "Doe Blind" to the "Buck Blind" for the rest of the days hunt. By 4:10 PM he was calling me with a Buck on the ground!!! Congrats Buddy!!!! ..... In the mean time I spent the rest of the day consoling my wife about the "Madness" called bow hunting!!! She is very hooked on bow hunting, now after one day, but her confidence and Very bruised pride has kept her out of the blind since. She plans to get back in as soon as she is back to confidently shooting 3-4 in. groups at 30-40 yds. I am proud as heck of her.... but she just does not think her misses are anything to be proud of.... I say, "If your not making Mistakes you are not learning anything!" She had more opportunity at Big bucks in one day than most get in a whole season..... and she walked away with bag full of leasons on how to be a better bow hunter..... all on her first Ever bow hunting day!!! She has never been that close to a Coues deer while hunting and what a Rush that is! It was a Great Day of Hunting IMO!!!! She, too, is starting to understand that..... -
I was wondering if there is a hunting story competion this year on CW.com???? If so I nominate this one to be the Winner!!!!! This is by far your Best Post EVER, Troy!!!! Again, Congrats on the Buck! I know how hard you have hunted these past few years!
