Amen brother!!This is where its all going, to heck if we let it. there are so dang many people hunting anymore, it crazy! They need to all go back where they came from and stay there...Game and fish loves it because they can hit each one of them new hunters for 500-1000 bucks each time they want to hunt. The juniors are the ones who are going to pay for it. its sad. when they do finally get to go hunting, all they will have is an un fun experience because of all the pressure. My son drew a rifle antelope tag this past year and we had a great time with no hunting pressure because of the limited number of tags available. The game and fish is too greedy to keep all tag numbers low though......... Ron

I saw a sticker too. On sunday, outside of Globe in 24a while we were trying to glass up some javelinas. All I saw was people and not any animals. The sticker was on a maroon jeep cherokee with a quad trailer behind it parked on the side of the highway. Ron

Since you asked, here my opinion. I've been calling for quite a few years and have a johnny stewart 612 tape player that works wonders. Try blowing on a mouth call till you cant see straight then try to shoot something as it runs by, you'll be so dang dizzy that you'll miss every time. I have called in and killed lions, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, wild dogs, wild cats, crows, Everything imiginable with my old 612. Shoot, just yesterday,my 12 year old son and I were out javelina hunting, and seen 2 bobcats so we set up and called one of them in and all we had was bows, no guns. I made a great 40 yard shot and killed a nice female bobcat. Had to shoot it once more up close as it was growling and spitting and charging at us, it was an experence we will never forget. Anyways, for less than 200 bucks, get a 612 tape player by johnny stewart. I bet you can get one off ebay for less than 150, with a bunch of tapes too. You cant go wrong. Just carry a small high pitched mouth call around your neck to get them stopped when they come running. Have fun.. Ron

Man you are not kidding, we were in the unit to do some quail hunting, and I could not believe the people camped and parked on the sides of the highway. It was ridiculous. Quail chasing was the worst I have seen in 10 years or more. People on quads,trucks,walking, camping, my God they were everywhere. Kinda discouraging. I was telling my 12 year old son who was with me that there used to be game all over the unit, we could see deer and quail all over and NO people. Now its people and NO game. Thanks game and fish and everyone else who glamorizes hunting into a billion dollar industry....they have in ruined for most of us who have hunted for a long time...Its sure not like it used to be.... Richard Owens at Hunters Lair Taxidermy in Show Low. He is by far the best in the area and more than fair on pricing. My house is full of mounts from him and he does everything from fish to birds to elk to lions and bears. He does great work...I have pics if you want to see them.. Ron

You really have to watch them indians on that reservation, especially the crooked butt game wardens...Its all a political game to them and if your not on their side your in for a big headache. Trust me I know. We used to hunt the late hunt all the time, then they cancelled it, we used to buy the predator tag every year, then they cancelled it. as far as the comment "just buy a varmint tag"-- Good luck..They dont sell them anymore, but they are in the regs. political scam...They dont like outsiders in their playground, especially if your a little lighter in color than they are. I could go on and on, but i think you get the idea... As far as unit 9 and 11...Scout from the rim road on the res side down to about the heber area...lots of elk crossing in there. once you are on the res.. try the iron mine area or canyon creek area too. lots of cows in there this time of year. Watch out for the big bucks in there too...Its a good hunt, just be smart when you hunt and are on "their"land.... Ron

Heres my sons first antelope,he shot it from 380 yards. We had watched this buck for over a month and couldnt find him opening day. It finally turned up saturday morning. I was really impressed with his shot. I guess all that practice payed off.!! Ron

Nope, he drew the tag in only his second year of trying. His mother drew after 4 years of applying about 4 years ago and I got to guide her too.LOL, I have been trying for 16 years to get drawn...No luck yet...He shot it with the 243 that I used to kill my first deer when i was his age. His mother used the same gun. I got a ton of guns but they seem to both like this one. The buck was slightly quatering to us and he hit in the front shoulder and the 90 grain nosler ballistic tip went right through the top of both lungs. I had him practicing alot but never thought he could make such an awesome shot. I was truly blessed with his actions the other day. All he kept saying on the way home was how much fun he had. I bet he never forgets it... I know I wont... Ron

Jack, Thats a very impressive buck. My son has a tag for rifle antelope, I thought we had found several nice bucks until I saw that one. I would venture to say thats an auction tag antelope. I bet hes 90-92 easy. Dont tell a soul where he is or you will regret it for the rest of your life, not even the unit. We have picked out a very nice buck for my son, we have been keeping a close eye on him. He has tons of character and is very odd. I hope we can get him opening morning. He'll probably go 82. Do you know anyone with a tag where this buck in the pics lives??? Ron

Standman, You arent the only one who is having trouble finding shooter bucks in the 3's. A friend of mines wife has a antelope tag and all they have seen is average bucks, nothing great. My son who is 12 has a 2A rifle antelope tag and we have several bucks already picked out. The top buck should go 80-82 and has great character. I guess we are blessed. I'll keep my ears open for you. Have you checked south of the paper mill??? I know there was some good ones running there last year. Any body else have that 2a antelope tag??? Ron

It all comes down to whos got the most money and always will...People who go on these high dollar hunts dont care about how many tags the az game and fish issue. they;ll just go hunt on a private ranch and say to heck with it. the avearge working joe cant afford that stuff so we'll be stuck hoping for a november archery bull tag or oct rifle deer tag..That stinks.... I have said it before... its all about the money.... Ron

Get a .300 win mag and shoot 180 grain bullets out of it. Its the fastest flattest shooting bullet available until you go into the high dollar short mags and special order stuff you cant get anywhere......lol Its the way to go... Ron

I have seen the same thing in the past with whole familys doing that same thing, getting 5 antelope tags, several early rifle bull tags and then to top it off late whitetail tags. They all keep a tight lip now that everyone is on to them. Its all in who you know anymore.... Ron

My son drew a unit 2a antelope tag with the option to purchase a any elk tag during the hunt. He drew it with 3 bone-us points,I had 13 points and got skunked again. Does anyone else have this hunt??? Ron

I heard straight from a game and fish relations officer that the whole draw is screwed up and they have to re-do the whole darn thing!! UNbelievable....no one has a dang clue. I think the game and fish are trying to distract people from checking credit card charges because they have no control over it, so they giving any story they can think of. i think we should just start printing our own tags......LOL What a joke!!!!
