I haven't seen all that many bobcats in my life but that one looks rather, shall I say HEALTHY!!!! Brian PS. Wonder if Crown yelled FORE after he smacked it with his club!!!!! -
firstcoueswas80 is absolutely correct. No matter how you hunt, it is all about putting meat in the freezer and building memories for the future. I myself hunt with a six year old and a nine year old and I usually sit the ground somewhere where we can see as many animals as possible because that is what keeps my boys entertained and I can't see myself trying to put a stalk on a nice buck with the boys behind me asking "Daddy are we getting close yet?" Bottom line: Hunt the way you want, Where you want, and cherish the times you have in Gods great land. Brian

I must say I particularly like this block ? Erect barriers to wildlife areas or vandalize hunter vehicles or property. I had several stands set up this year that were about 200 yards away from each other and was sitting one of them. I saw some people walk by and thought nothing of the ordeal since the area I hunt is frequented by birders. A few minutes later I hear noises of metal clanging. I got down out of the stand and ran over to see what was going on and found three individuals tearing the stand out of the tree. The stand was chained up and locked at the top but was being dismantled from the tree at the bottom. The individuals tore the stand down and discarded the pieces by throwing them around the area. I ended up following the three back to the road where their vehicle was. Along the way, I was calling the Sheriffs department and G&F to meet me at the vehicles. We got back to the vehicles and I reported the incident to the Sheriff and he talked to the individuals. Needless to say nothing was done about the issue. Luckily, I found all of the pieces to the stand and it is still operational. the only part that was broken was the support bar from the ladder to the tree and that can be replaced. I AM GLAD THAT SOMEONE IS FINALLY TRYING TO STAND UP FOR US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brian

Clint, Not sure where we are going to camp. Had the September Elk hunt up there and saw alot of turkey but very few elk, so I imagine that this time we will go up and find lots of elk and no turkey. I will definitely keep you in mind if we end up in that neck of the woods. I should be in a Dark Gray Quad Cab Chevy 4X4. We should be up on the 6th to start looking for good sign. Brian -

Awesome pic!!! -
Cochise County didn't get all that much down low but the Huachucas finally got some snow. Was beginning to look like we might lose the entire mountain to a lightning strike. Still pretty dry though. Maybe we will get some more this weekend.

If we can put out water for the illegals, why can't we put out water for the antelope? Seems fair to me. -

Forty pounds is the legal weight in Arizona. R12-4-304 Lawful Methods for Taking Wild Mammals, Birds, and Reptiles 5. To take deer: a. Centerfire rifles; b. Muzzleloading rifles; c. All other rifles using black powder or synthetic black powder; d. Centerfire handguns; e. Handguns using black powder or synthetic black powder; f. Shotguns shooting slugs; g. Bows with a standard pull of 40 or more pounds, using arrows with broadheads no less than 7/8 inch in width with metal cutting edges; and h. Crossbows with a minimum draw weight of 125 pounds, using bolts with a minimum length of 16 inches and broadheads no less than 7/8 inch in width with metal cutting edges. Your mom is totally legal and should have a very exciting time trying to get her first animal with her bow. Brian

A pass through would not be out of the question. My wife shoots a Matthews FX with about the same statistics as your mom's bow and she has killed several animals with it and passed through. I don't recommend a shot outside of 40 yards though. Brian

Those hunters may need a HUNTER SAFETY COURSE too the way that they were throwing the guns around pointing them at everyone. Sure know that that would scare the crap outta me. Brian -
What would this buck score??

Background: This camera is setup on a scrape that produced two harvested deer. One deer was a spike (Female hunter 1st archery hunt 1st shot 1st deer) and the other was a 6X4 with a broken G4 (broken after the shot trying to hurdle over a six foot mesquite). The stand location is 15 yards from this scrape and appeared to be being refreshed on a regular basis. No pictures were taken prior to the first two deer being taken but the last week has produced several nice pictures of 5 other bucks working the same scrape. What do you guys think he will score? I am new to scoring deer and don't really have any idea as to what this deer may score. I am hoping that your estimates will help me to determine how to field score deer. Another picture of a different deer will be posted in a few days. Hope you like the picture. Brian p.s.....Patience is a virtue...... -

I agree with Red Rabbit. Organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, etc. usually raise money to put in guzzlers around the state. Get with members of these organizations and volunteer to help with the projects or even joining these groups should help with finding the locations of these waterholes. Brian -
