I know this doesn't help you guys, but we have seen 15 different bucks the last 2 weekends in 35A. Just none have come into bow range. They are there, it just takes lots of hard work to find them

limit: 80 yrds zone: < 50 yrds killed: 60 yrds and 10 ft. Definitely liked the 10 ft shot a lot better than the 60 yrd shot.

My 2009 Monster Muley!!!!!

Nice buck there Coues Archer. To bad you have to wait until January to hunt Coues with us now, but I guess you should be satisfied with the Muley. See you in January -
Cannon GL2
SouthernCouesHunter replied to josh's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Haven't ever used one, but I have really been thinking about getting the GL2 myself. I know that a lot of the hunting shows on the Outdoor Channel use the GL2. Don't see how you can go wrong when the pros are using it. -
Went out yesterday with my wife and four kids to look at the hunting area that I have hunted in the past and where my wife and 13 year old are wanting to bow hunt come December. It looked completely different then it did in January when I took my buck. We looked around for a while and did a little shed hunting. Ended up finding this nice pick up and didn't realize at the time that this was the buck that I had been searching for. I rough scored him at 103 4/8". Sure wish that my boy would have had a chance to stick him.

I have thought about that, but don't know if I want to pony up the dough for a cape. If I shoot a smaller buck in January, I might steal the cape off of that one, but I know that if the wife or boy get one they will want theirs mounted.

Crystal Creek Ranch just outside of Del Rio is a nice place. You can Google it and find their website. Fairly reasonable and great accommodations. -

UNIT 1 Help
SouthernCouesHunter replied to SouthernCouesHunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Had a blast but didn't end up getting one. We were camped at one of the trail heads into Mt. Baldy but hunting off of FR 409. Saw elk every day just had some bad luck with some dads teaching his kids to hunt out of the bed of their truck. My boy took 3 shots but I feel his lack of practice out to 250 yards hindered his ability to connect. We were set up about 60 yards from a heavily traveled spot but didn't get lucky enough for the elk to come in that close. -
Just wondering if anyone can tell me if there are areas off of Stone Creek Rd in UNIT 1 that you can pull a Travel Trailer in and camp. My sons youth hunt starts next Friday and I have not had any time to get up there and scout. We plan on going up this week and staying but I would like to know if there is camping available. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a Ameristep Intimidator and 2 Ameristep Brickhouse blinds and love them. Had 3 people sitting in the Intimidator a few weeks ago for my son's elk hunt and had no problems. Sets up in a few moments, a little tricky getting it back down. You have to collapse the sides in a specific order to get it to break down correctly. Haven't owned a Double Bull but that will be my next purchase.

Has anyone seen or heard of any reviews on this camera? Amanda, Will this item be added to the CouesWhitetail store?

35A Rut - November?
SouthernCouesHunter replied to PaddyMcGurk's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Not sure where your buddy is getting his information but I have only seen rutting activity in December and January in 35A. You may see more activity in the Huachucas in November high on the mountain, but I haven't seen it. Stay off the main roads cause there are alot of truck hunters. Get back in the hills and you should be able to find a nice buck. -
