Look up the CMP, Civilian Marksmanship Program on the net. They have some really nice ones. If you are a vet they will send it to you without going through an FFL. My dad got one a couple years ago and it's in great shape and was the least expensive option available.

63% percent success pretty much tells you that they have been hammering the bulls. You can now see into the hillsides and canyons that had always held elk but were invisible before the fire. problem is that 90% of that 63% are the raghorns and up and comers. Boom and then bust.

Realistic view. Ive been to meetings, the majority complains of not getting drawn, they create more opportunity, we all bitch about the number of hunters in the field, the numbers of tags increased, 4 whitetail hunts, etc. Most of the bitching comes from people who have un-realistic expectations of the draw. Or who have two points for elk and whine about not getting an elk tag when they only put in for premium hunts. I have always been treated well by officers in the field. They are at the bottom of the corporate food chain and most of them don't agree with the recommendations being imposed upon them either.

Coyotes and cockroaches, in the end that's all their will be.

I used to replay them all in my daydreams.... best I can truly remember Archery - 8 coues, 3 mule deer, 4 bulls, whole bunch of pigs Rifle - 20 plus coues, 4 mule deer, 1 mountain lion, 1 bear ( never really wanted to kill another one with a rifle), bunch of turkeys. Shot a smattering of coyotes, foxes and a few bobcats in the 80's when fur was high. Took 4 coyotes with a bow that I actually recovered, killing coyotes with a bow is tough, pretty proud of them. Have drawn 4 archery bull tags in 24 years, 21 points for antelope, same for sheep.

I grew up hunting with two peanut butter sandwiches down the front of my shirt, a canteen on my belt, Old Timer in my pocket along with a book of matches and some cord. One day my Dad came home with a fanny pack and my brother and I were insanely jealous. Now my pack feels like there's a good buck in it before I even leave the truck. No rubber gloves for me, just one more thing.

Has anybody had the Outdoorsmans machine their EL's for the tripod adapter bushing? I'm having a hard time getting up the courage to just send them off after talking to them on the phone. I'm not into the velcro strap method etc. what is everybody else doing? Pretty stupid that a pair of elite glasses isn't already drilled and tapped for tripod use.

Killed quite a few coyotes with both solids and hollow points. The solids actually put them down quicker. They seem to follow the path of least resistance and do a lot of internal damage, also penetrate shoulders better. The only stinger I put to the shoulder of a big coyote left a pile of hair and a permanent limp.

You could always get the regular cab ranger 800 and buy the jump seats for the bed. Put the jump seats in whenever you want to haul more people and save money over the crew cab. I have an 09 Ranger 700 and in 4 wheel drive it is a beast. It definately would go more places than I am brave enough to take it. We have a 2013 570 on the ranch and its kind of a dog. Get the bigger engine and don't look back.

We recently traded in a 2003 Ranger with over 2100 HOURS on it. It didn't have an odometer only an hour meter. It never saw a mile on a paved road and was driven almost daily. It was in the shop one time for a carburetor issue but all other maintenance , which was only oil and filter changes were done at home. I would say it had over 20,000 miles on it, and was used for ranch work, and used pretty hard. It still ran fine when traded in but it sure showed the abuse cosmetically.

I run the half windshield on my Ranger. Cold and wet in the winter but a full windshield in the summer is an oven. I can always put on more clothes to stay warm, but driving around in your skivvies in the summer attracts too much unwanted attention.

You gotta be kiddin right....lol I knew the mountain folks would tear this up and thats fine, I used to get laughed at whenever I showed up with my ECHO but it starts every time, always, and after ten years has stacked up piles of mesquite in 100 degree heat, and ripped through your pulpwood at high altitude with no tinkering. The local small engine and saw shop has stacks of every manufacture out there, but not ECHO.

Or..... you could buy an ECHO and after your truck is full help fill up everybody else's truck while they are constantly trying to keep their saws running.
